Really to replace Dave Ja Vu on Freeview
From August 2, Dave Ja Vue, the Dave+1 channel, will be replaced by the UK TV Channel "Really".
Really will show US programmes like Tool Academy and Celebrity Rehab, and UK programmes like Snog, Marry, Avoid and Bizarre ER.
Really will join Yesterday and Dave to make three UKTV Freeview channels.

garet:
Over 90% of transmitters won't transmit the full service.
Some won't even get Channel 5 until 2013.
I know how you fill. That's why I use satellite.
But some of the free channels on Freeview that you can't get are subscription on satellite. :o(

Mark A., gareth: While only 81 of 1100 transmitters provide six multiplexes, those transmitters serve all but 8.5% of the population. The situation is worse in Wales, with 34% of the population not being served by any transmitter that provides the commercial multiplexes.
Channel 5 is carried on the PSB2/D3&4 multiplex and is available from all transmitters. There are a tiny number of new relays where some multiplexes don't start up until after the official switchover date, but these are generally ITV-only relays like Derby, where D3&4 *will* start on the official date.
Ofcom's current switchover timetable says that Tyne Tees and Ulster - the only remaining regions for which dates have not yet been published - must be completed by the end of 2012.

Jay: There is capacity on the Arqiva multiplexes, as they changed from 16QAM (18Mbps) to 64QAM (24Mbps) they have extra bandwidth for two extra channels each.
As above, Really replaces an existing channel.

Peter Henderson: It's probably worth pointing out that UKTV owns the "Dave Ja Vue" slot, as they were one of the original Freeview consortium.
It is not likely that they would sell off a valuable Freeview slot to another broadcaster when they have plenty of content themselves.
Eurosport would be quite free to bid for one of the Arqiva TBA slots.

Mike Dimmick: I have to agree that Alibi would have probably been a better choice of channel for Freeview.
I would think that they have thought "Dave" is a very male-orientated channel, and so "Really" is probably a good way of reaching a female-audience on Freeview.
I note that "Really" is showing a "no share" on BARB, whereas "Alibi" gets 0.3%.
"Dave" gets 0.8%, from the Freeview presence.
