published on UK Free TV

If you cancel your contract with Sky the Sky+ box will revert to the function of a normal Freesat from Sky (fSfS) satellite receiver - no PVR facilities and only a single tuner.

The different channels you get on Freesat/fSfS and Freeview can be seen here:

Please don't use a loft aerial, they don't work with Freeview. You need a rooftop aerial for reliable reception.

If I cancel Sky +, can I keep Sky talk (with the line charge) and the free Broadband Light?

dot thomas: No, as Sky will disable the recording side of the box as they retain control of this at all times, even after a person has stopped subscribing.

I believe they charge about £10.00 per month to keep it enabled this making a Freesat recorder a better choice, as it can directly replace the Sky boxes position as it uses the same dish without any alterations being necessary.

Dan: No! as Freesat and Sky in the technical sense of reception use exactly the same dish arrangements so no alterations whatsoever are necessary, so you simply remove the "F" connectors from the Sky boxes and transfer them over to the Freesat ones.

Laura: A sky box can work without a card being inserted so take the card out and try disconnecting the box from its mains power supply, then after about 30 seconds or so reconnecting it again and letting it go through the usual procedure of searching for listings etc.

If you do not have a contract with Sky then the only purpose the card has is to enable the correct ITV region to be viewed in certain areas plus view Pick TV.
