This week sees the first stage of the digital television switchover for 157,800 homes in Sheffield and Chesterfield.

From 6am Wednesday 10th August 2011, you must to a perform a "first time installation" retune (sometimes "Factory Reset" or "Shipping Condition") on your Freeview box or television set if you use the Sheffield or Chesterfield full service Freeview transmitters. This is because the old "multiplex 1" BBC service will be replaced by the BBCA multiplex on a different frequency.

If you use the Brockwell, Dronfield, Hasland or Totley Rise relay transmitters from mid-morning on Wednesday 10th August 2011 you will be able to receive the BBC Freeview services (with the exception of HD) for the first time, and you will no longer be able to view BBC TWO on analogue.

Sheffield and Chesterfield

On Wednesday 24th August 2011 will see the second stage of switchover, which provides the final Freeview configuration, including Freeview HD for all transmitters in this region.

On this date, you will need, once again, to do a "first time installation" as indicated above.

chris: The BBC channels are being transmitted at full power after switchover. Check that you have stored channels on the correct frequency for the transmitter that your aerial is pointing to. Sheffield/Crosspool is C27 and Chesterfield/Unstone is C26. Belmont has Mux BBCA on C22 and is found first when scanning if reception is possible.
