How to get Sky News on a Freesat box
On the set-top box:
Press [MENU] then [DOWN] twice, then [RIGHT], [DOWN] again to highlight "Manual Tune" and press [RIGHT].
On the menu scroll [DOWN] to "Transponder" and then use [DOWN] to find the value "12207V 27500 A".
Scroll down to the "Search" button and press [OK]. Tuning takes a few seconds to complete and press the [SAVE] button.
The set-top box is now in "non-Freesat mode". Press [EXIT] to see the TV picture, which will be Sky News, unless you have already added other channels, when it will be on the highest channel number.
To return to normal Freesat mode, press [MENU] again, and in the "Settings" menu, choose "STB Mode" and select "Freesat".
You can add any channel listed as free-to-air from this list: Eurobird 1 & Astra 2A/2B/2C/2D at 28.2E - LyngSat

I have just purchased a new Humax Foxsat HDR 500 Freesat receiver, all works fine, except I am dissapointed with the audio, in just a normal size room I have to have the volume bar all the way across (on full is this normal??), for satisfactory earing, my volume on the tv is set the same as when I had a Sky box, My tv is a Samsung 32" H D ready (4 years old).any ideas.

Dave: Sky boxes have a rather high level of audio output, and if the sound level bar is set anything above 33% it can be too high for many TVs, this resulting in their volume controls having be set at a very low level for normal listening.
Humax boxes on the other hand have a lower audio output level, with fully advanced being roughly equivalent to the Sky boxes 33%, but this shouldn't be looked at as a fault, as this is in line with the output levels found in many other Freeview boxes including PVR's.
In other words, its because the Sky box is designed with a rather "punchy" level of audio output that it makes other devices seem lacking in this respect.

Hi,
I've tried following the instructions to get sky news on my Samsung Smt-S7800 Freesat box but cannot find the required transponder value number - any suggestions? Also, can i get any other channels other than the ones advertised? Thanks.

Leigh Brown: Sky News is on 12207 V 27500, you can't get it by using any other parameters.
