I Hinks: To obtain any form of accuracy you really require to provide a post code, as using a test post code of SK1 1QF (Stockport Post Office, Gt Underbank) there is a number of local (very!) transmitters being shown as possible for reception, although Winter Hill (21mls) indicates glowing reception, its BBC Mux channel being 62.
That said though, your daughters TV/box could be picking channels up from a combination of the under mentioned, if she does a signal check (in the tuning menu) whilst on BBC1 that will show what Mux channel its on, then cross check on the stations indicated.
The others being / (all mentioned BBC1 Mux)
Portwood...............Ch28 (1mile)
Stockport..............Ch24 (2 miles)
Haughton Green.........Ch46 (3miles)
Romiley ...............Ch44 (4mls)
Saddleworth............Ch45 (11 miles)
It would also be of assistance to know what type of aerial is being used, loft / roof / or even set top.

Hi,
I am getting pixilation on multiple BBC channels (is this MUX 1). I have retuned and rebooted a nuber of times and still have the issue. My freeviw box is less than 12 months old as is my arial and cabling.
How do I "force" my freeview box to pick up channels from the "correct" transmitter?
All was working well until my retune on the 22/9/2011.
Post code is S60 5RA
Thanks
Mike

D E MILLER: Check in the 800s of your channel list for BBC East Midlands. You are predicted to have excellent reception of both Waltham and Sutton Coldfield at your location. As S/C is found first in the scan the West Midlands channels are being stored in the LCN (normal) slots and the Waltham alternatives are likely to be stored as a variation. If you wish to store the BBC East Midlands mux manually it is on C61, not C27, which is the frequency for the Kimberley mast.
