How to get Sky News on a Freesat box
On the set-top box:
Press [MENU] then [DOWN] twice, then [RIGHT], [DOWN] again to highlight "Manual Tune" and press [RIGHT].
On the menu scroll [DOWN] to "Transponder" and then use [DOWN] to find the value "12207V 27500 A".
Scroll down to the "Search" button and press [OK]. Tuning takes a few seconds to complete and press the [SAVE] button.
The set-top box is now in "non-Freesat mode". Press [EXIT] to see the TV picture, which will be Sky News, unless you have already added other channels, when it will be on the highest channel number.
To return to normal Freesat mode, press [MENU] again, and in the "Settings" menu, choose "STB Mode" and select "Freesat".
You can add any channel listed as free-to-air from this list: Eurobird 1 & Astra 2A/2B/2C/2D at 28.2E - LyngSat

BILL: Yes! if you wish whoever to be able to view different programmes on each of them, as otherwise you could purchase an RF modulator and connect that into the scart socket on the Freesat box and feed an analogue signal via a coax cable to a TV in the other room, the TV picking it up as though it was an analogue TV channel in exactly the same way as done with a Sky box.

I moved from London with Freeview to West Yorkshire with no aerial, so bought a Bush SD Freesat box. Sky News, of course is missing, but in trying to add the channel as a non-freesat service, it just doesn't work. The instructions at the top of this site is nothing like what I - and one other in the blog - can see. Can ANYONE give us a direct answer. When you say 12207 V 27500 - does the V stand for Vertical by any chance in the LNB Polarisation. Tried that and still doesn't work. Thanks and help!

Lovely to have all these channels that I don't watch - hence deleted - but Sky News is far more important to me. Would have watched the Jubilee on Sky News and by all accounts excellent commentary, rather than than the awful celebrity-driven BBC commentary we had to put up with last week!

Una: I have just tried the instructions referred to on a Humax Freesat recorder and it works exactly as described, and yes "V" does correspond to vertical, this automatically being linked to 27500 and likewise did not require to be entered.
If you give the model number of the box in question I will have a check on its menu system used, as obviously they are not all exactly the same in operation.

I am almost certainly going to leave Sky, because there is so much that I pay for, but don't watch. Is there anywhere I can compare the programme list of Freeview, Freesat and Sky 'freesat' side-by-side, say in four columns where for example, if a program (like Dave) is shown as Dave/yes/no/no?
