Freeview more valued than most other "British institutions"
Question: On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is "Don't value at all" and 10 is "Value a lot", in general to what extent, if at all, do you value each of the following British organizations? Base: all UK adults (2,066) between 7 and 10 June 2013, conducted by YouGov.
Here is the results:
The oddest thing is ... Freeview viewers value BT more than the general population - or the corporate group is missing from the top chart.

I still prefer the catchier 'Freeview More Popular Than Jesus' headline! PR of the year.
(Though we wouldn't want our DVRs piled up and burned by the KKK and then shot by Mark David Chapman...).

I agree that free-view is a good value. why pay hundreds of pounds a year on sky and cable while most channels on there are repeated for free on free-view.. I just wish more channels carry subtitles so I can enjoy it more.. get rid of those shopping channels... who really watches them?? I wish red button carry subtitles too.. I know its not possible due to very limited bandwidth

I suspect the shopping channels pay Freeview a handsome amount to transmit them, so even if hardly anyone watches them they're a valable source of income to Freeview and so are likely to stay, as no doubt are the various "adult" channels! In effect, these services are subsidising the ones that most of us actually watch.

Richard Davis: All channels pay "the market rate" to obtain capacity.
Remember that Freeview is just the name of the service. The commercial capacity is owned by Arqiva and SDN (which is 100% owned by ITV plc).
