New Freeview and Freesat channel TruTV to start soon
Details have been provided to Broadcast (see Turner to launch UK free-to-air channel TruTV - News - Broadcast Turner reveals TruTV plans - News - Broadcast) about bringing the popular US television channel TruTV to UK screen.
According to Broadcast the UK channel will include new home-grown content as well as programmes from the US.
The channel is
Container Wars, gameshow Fear Factor and repo series South Beach Tow.
"This kind of unscripted programming is doing incredibly well in the UK right now and we have a very strong pipeline of content, so it seemed to be the right time to take advantage,"Turner UK general manager Anthony Lukom told Broadcast, "Other channels have started to develop this genre in their schedule - but they are not dedicated to it. TruTv has a very clear proposition â it is about larger-than-life, compulsive viewing.... TruTV shows real-life comedy featuring incredible characters in real-life situations, a formula that is enjoying ever-increasing popularity worldwide,"
The 24-hour channel will air this summer in on the Freeview, Freesat and YouView platforms, with Sky and Virgin Media to be confirmed.
Turner has already commissioned UK content for the US channel, including Killer Karaoke and Hardcore Pawn (photo above).

It could be the weather as there is a high at the moment. You may get an improvement with a better aerial. If it persists it might be worth checking you are not affected by 4G. This can be fixed with a simple filter which I understand is available free. Just a thought.

Satellite has weather problems as well like in heavy rain or snow but can be improved with a bigger disc. You will also loose signal for a few minutes when the sun is directly behind the satellite. Fibre broadband to the home is best.

But not yet available to all! BT and Wiltshire Council tell me that they will only start the assessment in our area next year at the earliest!

A 44cm or greater size zone 2 minidish will often solve problems for satellite reception as it will pull in more signal and give more rainfade margin over a 38cm zone 1 minidish. SES Astra actually recommend a 50cm dish for reception of their satellites in the United Kingdom which will give a better all weather reception even in heavy rain unless snow completely covers the dish of course.

Very true, I have a 65cm dish and the only time I ever lose the signal is when there is a strong thunder storm directly between the dish and the satellite, other than that its perfect, torrential rain, very heavy snow, not a problem.

conor: Since 'reality' TV ranks among the cheapest to make, it would make sense to also broadcast it in the cheapest way possible. SD all the way.
