Brasil Record TV is 801 on SKY and can be viewed without subscription. However, this is not available on FreeSat. I know plenty of people who use a second hand SKY box with no subscription just to get 801 Record TV. I'd buy a Humax if I knew I'd get Brasil Record TV, but you can't. So for me a SKY box, with 'crippled' features (no recording etc.) is better than freest simply because of the channel selection.

Is there any chance that BT sports will become available on Freeview?

@mrnonsense - almost none. I think BT Sports whole funding model is based on encouraging people to sign up for BT Broadband. In fact, I can't see how to subscribe without also getting either BT's awful broadband service or one of Sky's awful television receivers. I'm surprised this forced bundling hasn't attracted regulators' attention yet. I guess they're just so desperate to have some other subscription service besides Sky.

Here's a puzzle.
I have two Sky digiboxes. in two houses, three miles apart. Both boxes have expired cards.
In house A, the Grundig digibox receives ALL skyfreesat programmes (incl SkyNews/Aljazeera/RT/CNN/True Drama/True Ent/Moremovies.).
In house B the Pace Skydigibox receives most Skyfreesat but NOT those listed above which merely displays "No satellite signal".
The logical conclusion might have been that the Pacebox was somehow limited internally by Sky at time of manufacturer whereas the older Grundig had no such restriction
BUT
I have now i9nstalled the Grundig Box in the other house (House B) and the Grundig is now receiving with the same limitations as the Pace had previously.
I have not changed anything other than the the receiver digibox.
What is happening? Can some Sky Boffin explain please.

Terry: This type of problem suggests that the dish in house B is slightly out of alignment, you should go into the signal test screen by pressing "services - 4 - 6" and check if the strength and quality are level pegging at around 60%+, because if the quality is lagging then the dish requires slight realignment, this usually always being in the horizontal (left / right) plane.
By the way, if you tested the old Pace box out on house A's dish you would possibly find that its perfectly OK.

I have a Skybox+ box, and a Now TV box.
If I cancel my Sky subscription will I get any Freeview stations automatically or is there a procedure to let the system 'know' I have changed?
Will I be able to record the programmes using the Sky+ box?
Will the TV Now box work with this system?
Thanks

We have ordered a TV Entertainment + BT Infinity Fibre Optic + TV package but have a fourteen day cooling off period. Currently we have a Sky Box with no extras just for TV but have a Panasonic FreeView TV. Currently broadband from Namesco and slow!
My partner watches Sky1, Sky Living and Sky Atlantic and records programmes for later viewing. If we cancel Sky what will my partner still be able to see via the box, if not able to record? Can we run both boxes, albeit only Sky watching and how does it all connect up!?
Welcome any guidance of the best way forward as we have a reduced on line deal for 6 months and £150 Sainsbury voucher if we continue to switch to BT. Also what happens to all the existing prerecorded progs. on the Sky Box? Must we have a watching session to clear them!?

why can't i watch sky news (my preferred news) on my desktop computer, yet I can watch it on Freeview?
I'm Freeview, I don't subscribe to SKY, but feel I should be able to watch the news on my computer. I can do so with BBC 24 hour news channel - but it would not be my preference.

annette mingay: Whether Sky News makes itself available online or not is down to its own discretion. Either use a TV near your computer or get a TV receiving card or USB dongle for your computer.

hi Dave
thank you, I have been using TVCatchup but they can't stream Sky or Sky channels, and I don't have a tv upstairs when I'm working at my computer - I'm one of those people who loves revolving news, so I tend to have the news on a lot during the day.
thanks for your reply, its appreciated.
