The problem could be one of:

- the aerial has been moved or damaged;

- the cables or connectors that connect the digibox to the aerial are damaged;

- the digibox has broken.

If you have a "spare" digibox you use this to test the aerial connection. Can you still watch analogue TV OK?

Derek Hazell: Provided that the Freeview box in the kitchen is fed from a separate outlet from the booster to that used by the TV in the living room, then the problem is likely to be caused by the Freeview boxes tuner being less sensitive to the type fitted in the TV.

If though its sharing the outlet used by the TV, temporarily connect the box into the socket used by the TV and check if the ITV programmes have returned, that is provided that you haven't already retuned the box? if you have, then you will have to carry out another retune to recover the channels.

Should the second situation apply, then you will have to purchase a two way powered splitter to rectify the problem on a permanent basis, one outlet feeding the living room TV, and with the other the Freeview box in the kitchen, the splitters common input fed from the booster outlet.

Can you actually record programmes on the Freesat box the same way as the sky box works?.

I assume that if you can you can only record one channel at a time. We currently have Sky plus and can record two channels/

joe: Practically all Freesat recorders (PVR's) are twin tuners devices enabling you to record in exactly the same way as Sky+ / Sky+ HD boxes, and just like Sky+ types requiring two input feeds from the LNB, one feeding each tuner.

A range of reliable devices being manufactured by Humax, an example of one type seen by opening the link.

Robert Aveyard: Read the manual - you have to connect it to the aerial.

Hi
I have a Panasonic HD TV paired with a Panasonic Blu-ray disc recorder. I can get programmes on the TV from PSB1, PSB2, PSB3, COM4, COM5, COM6 and COM7 but there is picture break up on some channels, for example on 107 BBC News I frequently (every 3/4 minutes) get "No Signal" breaks for a second or so. I have upgraded my loft aerial to one that has had excellent user reviews but could I have overdone it as I am at SG17, only 9 miles or so from the Sandy transmitter. Is the signal possibly too strong?
When viewing through the recorder, or wanting to record a programme, I can only view channels from PSB1, PSB2 and COM7 so why can't I receive the other channels?
Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Ian P: being only 9 miles away, the answer is probably yes! Check your signal strength - its sounds like its too high. Attentuators are very cheap (£1.59 on Amazon), and so you could just bring down the signal level enough to be fine for very little outlay.

Following the recent storms I have lost all my freeview channels through my BT Vision box and also independently through my Tv. I have a communal roof aerial and other residents in my stair are having no problems therefore thinking it can't be roof aerial. My freeview TV in my bedroom is also getting a very very interrupted signal. I have a splitter box for the main TV that I intend replacing however are there any other suggestions.

Many Thanks.

Bri M: If both your main TV and also the one used in the bedroom give intermittent reception when connected "directly" (not through splitter box) into your properties main TV outlet point, then this indicates that either the coax connected into the "rear" of the socket is defective, or that the line from said socket that runs to the distribution amplifier is defective, as this is outwith your control you should contact the properties maintenance department.

If though you get perfect reception when both sets are coupled directly into the main outlet point, then this indicates that either your splitter box is faulty, or its the jumper leads used to connect same.

That said is on the assumption that you have not tried retuning your TV's, which of course you should not have done.
