You can get the following Freeview channels on with an ex-contract digital satellite receiver (once it is connected). Items marked with a star require either a Freesat from Sky (fSfS) card, or a expired Sky subscription card to view.

Hello I have Sky hd in one room and a second Sky in another room, worked by seperate controls.
I have bought a humax hdr 1010s for Freesat watching on both tv,s.
What connections and cables will I need to work both tv,s on their own.
Thanks

John Jones: The answer to your question is dependant on various factors, and so maybe you could clarify on the following points.

(1) : Are the Humax 1010's ("if" two are involved) intended to work in parallel with the Sky boxes in order to offer each room the choice of viewing either Sky or Freesat?.

(2) : What input connection facilities are offered on the TV's involved? because if both are fitted with HDMI inputs? then HDMI leads could be used to couple the Humax 1010's into the TV's in the same way as possibly already done in the case of your Sky HD box.

(3) : If your Sky boxes are of the Sky+ variety? then each will have two coax feeds coming from the dish, two more then being required for each of the Humax 1010's, that is unless you fit a two way "satellite" grade switch box onto each of the two feeds from the dish prior to them terminating on the Sky boxes LNB input sockets.

A more precise answer can be given once the aforementioned points are clarified.

I currently have 3 Skyboxes hooked up to 3 TV's in my caravan. I can get all he Freeview Channels but cannot get Really, Quest, etc. I have been told that I can purchase a Sky card and then I can get these. We no longer have Sky at home. Could you please let me know if this is the case and where I can purchase a card if this is the case.

You should be able to watch most of the PSB services but you will see them in SD and will not be able to record anything nor playback recordings you may already have.

Check at FREESAT from Sky - Call now to order what will be available without a subscription.

If I cancel sky variety package, will I still be able to watch my tv without having to change all cables etc. and would it still be viewed through the sky box and use the sky remote?

Joan: Yes, as cancelling a Sky subscription only affects your ability to view programmes that are part of a Sky package, and if your box is a Sky+ or Sky+HD device, disabling the recording and playback side of the box as well as being able to view certain (non PSB) channels in HD, although they still can be viewed in SD.

You can get an idea of the result of cancelling your subscription simply by removing your viewing card, as anything that requires the card will trigger the caption "please insert your viewing card".
