Trevor Irwin: Hi, Trevor. Isn't the Armagh DAB transmitter just carrying the BBC National DAB multiplex on VHF band III block or channel 12B? If it is also carrying D1, the first national commercial multiplex or a local DAB multiplex for Armagh, you need to let this site's owner, Brian Butterworth know so that he can update this site's entry for Armagh DAB. Richard Cooper, Norwich.

Richard Cooper: Hi Richard, at all times I'm receiving the national stations from 12B, when I posted Armagh was broadcasting the local stations the transmitter was giving me 10 extra (commercial) stations, they only stayed on air for 3/4 days before being switched off again... (I'm right beside transmitter so signal strength won't be a problem)... I do know the area I live a lot were complaining of their TV service being interrupted while the extra radio stations were broadcasting

Trevor Irwin: Perhaps Digital One was putting out temporary test transmissions of its commercial stations from Armagh before deciding whether or not to include Armagh amongst its Northern Ireland DAB radio transmitters.

Richard Cooper: it's Arqiva who will be looking after the Armagh transmitter & head of a local station has advised it will be live by Autumn at latest... Some of the extra stations that came on during the 2 recent test periods were: Cool FM, Downtown, Downtown Country, BBC Radio Ulster, Absolute Radio 90's, Kiss & Q radio

Trevor Irwin: Hi, Trevor. That's interesting. It does rather seem as if Ofcom has tended to treat Northern Ireland rather as if it were a county in England rather than a principality in its own right! After all, Ulster is at least the area of all of the East Anglian counties of England put together, Richard, Norwich.

David worth: Hi, David. Do you mean Ibthorpe? I can't locate a place called Ibsthorpe!. My guess would be before the end of October this year because this is when I'm led to believe the current round of additional transmitters for the BBC National multiplex and the Digital One First national commercial multiplex are due to have been completed and by which time should be on the air. Richard, Norwich.

Richard Cooper: Hi, again David. I have an update on Ibthorpe DAB since my posting of 4:36 p.m. I have been informed by someone 'in the know', that Ibthorpe will be up and running by 30th. September 2016, which is about a month earlier than I had anticipated. Let's keep our fingers crossed if you're the superstitious type! Richard, Norwich.

George Lindsay: The current expansion program for DAB coverage is supposed to be completed this autumn. Dates are usually announced in advance for specific transmitters to go on air.
