BBC Radio Derby

BBC Radio Derby is a public digital radio station radio. UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

John Jennings: None of the BBC local radio stations are available on Sky (except BBC Radio London if you live in the London area). All of the BBC's local radio stations are available on Freeview, but no plans have been announced to add any to Sky/Freesat or cable.

I live near Cromford but can't get radio Derby on DAB - although I can get radio Leicester on DAB. Why is this

A Bridges: We need a full postcode to check, but chances are you're in an area which doesn't get a good signal for the Derbyshire local multiplex, but does get the Leicestershire mux from a distant transmitter.

A Bridges:

Well this is quite odd, Cromford locks like it's in a bit of a pocket of no reception from 3 of the 4 transmitters carrying the Local multiplex that has BBC Radio Derby, but the 4th is very close at Bolehill fractionally E of due S of Cromford about 1 1/2 miles away. The mux is on Block 10B: 211.648 MHz.
Make sure you don't have any thick walls, large metal objects like fridges, freezers etc on the line-of-sight to the transmitter which also has the BBC National mux on Block 12B. Try a south facing window sill. But as StevensOnln1 has said, a full postcode would be needed to check the predicted reception.

BBC Radio Leicestershire is on a Local mux on Block 11B: 218.640 MHz and as StevensOnln1 has implied there are no transmitters with it nearby. Do you get stable constant reception of it, or has it just been there on and off in recent days? If the latter this is likely to be due to current weather conditions creating "Temperature Inversion" where signals from distant transmitters are carried further than normal, due to the particular layers of the atmosphere.
