I only once experienced lip sync issues back in the day of one of my first digital set-top boxes. I may have been the 'ondigital' box, which I finally parted with just before DSO. I can't remember now, whether the issue was transmission or reception-based, but I probably did a re-tune. In any event, the issue cleared up without my going to the effort of contacting the Radio Authority or whoever one was supposed to contact back then. In the recent case of lip sync on HD in Salisbury, the right thing was for viewers to check their receiving equipment first, following this up with contacting the Beeb and/or Arqiva once satisfied that there was nothing amiss with receiving equipment. Paul: Hi, Paul. Whilst I can't help you directly, apart from suggesting another retune and then seeing if Vintage TV appears on the EPG, I'd suggest that you specifically address your query to either MikeP OR jb38. All you have to do is make sure you are on this Vintage TV web page of this UK-FREE.TV website and do another post starting with FAO: MikeP OR jb38. Richard, Norwich

Paul: Pleased to hear back that you now have your epg and can record the channel. Richard.

FAO: Briantist: Re: 'My Radio reception' at NR2 2EF: Sorry Brian, but you seem to have forgotten that BBC Norfolk is available on FM from Stoke Holy Cross on 95.1, Heart Norfolk from Stoke Holy Cross on 102.4, Kiss FM (Norwich Relay) from Stoke Holy Cross on106.1 and Radio Norwich 99.9 from Stoke Holy Cross on 99.9! No rush to correct, but I'd be grateful if you could add these in when you have a 'spare moment' before 'analogue switch-off'!!! Ta, Richard, Norwich.

No reception problems - just waiting for Briantist to include FM Stoke Holy Cross ( 4 stations) in 'My Radio reception' on this UKFREE.TV site. Richard, Norwich.

Can I use a Freeview box if there is no SCART connector on my TWednesday 6 July 2016 9:51AM

Kay Hatton: Hi Kay. I believe that brand new televisions usually use the relatively new type of output connection other than SCART, which is called 'HDMI'. Perhaps you should have carefully inspected your new television's specifications before purchasing it, knowing that you would wish to continue using your existing Freeview recorder? Richard, Norwich.

Alan Goss: Hi, Alan. A visual banner supporting the caption, 'no programme' means exactly the same as 'no signal'; i.e. a signal strength below that required for the electronics inside to decode into a renderable picture and uninterrupted audio. In other words, your tvs are suffering from the 'digital cliff' effect. The only explanation other than issues with the tvs themselves is that the tvs are simply not being fed a sufficiently strong signal from your aerial via your distribution amplifier and so you need to check: condition, orientation and polarisation of the aerial on your roof or chimney pot, condition of the aerial cabling from the aerial to the distribution amplifier and the connections, whether the distribution amplifier is still actually working properly, the leads and connections between the outputs of the distribution amplifier and your three television sets. If you take the distribution amplifier out of the equation, not only must you unplug it from the mains, but you must also disconnect it from the aerial and provide direct feeds from the aerial to the three tvs via a three-way splitter. Remember that a non-functioning distribution amplifier acts as a signal 'attenuator', diminishing the signal instead of amplifying it! Richard, Norwich.

Astrid Terlouw: Hi, Astrid. You need to go around to your neighbour to inform her that her local tv transmitter, Guisborough, was off the air yesterday evening, which is the reason for her television reporting, ' no signal' because there was no signal to be had for her! Richard, Norwich.

Terry Goodison: Hi, Terry. From my experience of researching DAB transmitters for Norfolk, I have found the following websites useful: Ofcom - especially the local DAB expansion plans pdf documents, BBC Phase 4 DAB expansion, the a516 digital website, the mb21 transmission gallery website by Mike Brown, getdigitalradio.com, ukdigitalradio.com, frequencyfinder.org.uk and, of course, local press that usually report on forthcoming improvements in DAB coverage. Hope these sources will be helpful to you. You'll need quite a few hours to trawl through all of these sources, however! Richard, Norwich.

Roy Macdona: Hi, Roy. You get your Freeview tv signals from Llanddona, not from Penmon because Penmon only transmits BBC RADIO WALES on medium wave RADIO. It isn't a tv transmitter! The reasons you can't get Vintage TV ON Channel 86 are:- 1. It's transmitted from a group of channels called 'COM7' and this isn't transmitted from the Llanddona transmitter on Anglesey and possibly 2.: you need a high definition (HD) TV or set top box to decode the signal from Vintage tv's transmission even if it were transmitted from Llanddona! Looks like you'll have to move to mainland Wales if you wish to watch Vintage TV on Freeview!. Richard, Norwich.
