Below are all of Billy's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.No it was from maplins, not the advertised one, so better still, at the max now, 22 element log perdodic with 25db gain amplifier.
Ironic, cause only get two well and the one being what I needed for sky sports on ch 57, odd glitch some times but compared to years back, rare.
Off top of my head, yeah think the antenna itself is only 7.5 db gain, it does pick up another station close by despite it being vertical, lol, but it finally works.
Worry is the wind and rain, especially with ex - hurricane Katia coming in, though that's mainly gonna effect northern UK more.
Thank you any way Mike for your kind reply, but, so lucky, out of all of them, the one I really wanted I got and rang top up tv already, no lets just hope it stays that was, being in dip and getting waltham over 40 miles away is a major coup for me, and so much better than over 10 years back.

Bob you say you checked for the power, in Cov, some 43 miles away, using the log perodic and 25 db gain mast head amp, I get the ch 61 at strength 95 and quality at 100%, I did a 6db attenuation, still the same, had to boost to full to get the ch 57, luckily has the sky sports 1 on.
HUGE MISTAKE.
Had I been in charge, I'd have had ch 61 at 30,000 max.
It makes no sense, cause over the last decade most on this and other transmitters, struggling to get them, got what, better aerial and cable and amps and box, oops, now signals boosted, too darn strong.
For me, YAY, no worries, wish 57 was 50,000 kws, for you, arghhhh, no, turn them down, too much.
What an absolute mess as usual, no wonder last 8 years and still, I enjoy satellite, simply the best, glitch what glitch, VERY rare, but on-digital, disaster, ITV, much the same, no Freeview also messes it up.
Maybe if enough complain to Arqiva or whoever it is in charge they may drop them.
BBC mux 1 far far too powerful, crazy, no need for it, unless, unless one knocks the others up, but I suspect that they can not cause of co channel interference, which again from what i'm reading on here and else where, is also causing trouble for many.
A complete mess it seems.

Ken, might be a box problem, are they not the weaker ones, on 29, hold on I'll check.
Hmm, strange, who knows, despite both BBCA and D3+4 pushing the 50,000 I struggled to get it, weird eh.
It does seems, sadly a lot of people are having issues with boxes, not getting what they used to get, my advice make sure box first is what, compliant, meaning able to get the newer 8K signals.
Next annoying as it is, factory reset it.
Then using here, note the channel numbers, then manually, refer to manual if necessary, and put them in that way, checking signal strength if your box has one etc.
I hope that may help.
If, if getting all but say one, being BBC lots on ch 61, and others are strong and fine, try an attenuator, decrease the signal, can get one from maplins no doubt, a 6db reduction one.

Liz and others losing BBC and it will only sadly likely get worse, I'll repeat my post from the Waltham thread, okay:

See over the years those struggling or those close and not needing anything, now find after switchover, ouch, not coming in, overload, may day may day, :(.
You need an antenuator or however you spell it, from maplins, to reduce the signal, alternative, add cable and connection and so on, might help, lower amps, or remove them.
Fortunately for Sutton, think all are going to be 200,000, Waltham that is not the case, same at Lark Stoke, so those in weak, or fringe areas like me, in a dip, so can not get sutton at 16 miles away need amps, better aerial, but then you have problems, cause of the difference in power of the public ones like BBC, too strong, if you want the commerical ones, and so on, what a mess eh.

I need b, and got it now from Waltham thankfully, people on relays have been cheated really, when I bought the box you can not return, from Argos, they should upon postcode have told me as such.
It sounds like you are saying it will be on there, going from 6 to 3, hmm, okay, have to look into it, I understood, 16 qam 5 channels and 64 qam for 8 channels, having noticed that on 57 waltham they have like 18 or 19 channels means they are not high quality, right, mb per second, forgive, been a few years and some things have changed, since was last in to it, thanks anwyay, :).

Never mind, sure you on about something else cause Allesley never had any mux's on anyway.
Going from above what will be available and from what it said on that site...
Can not find it now, clearly said only from Fenton and such and such, Sutton and so on can you get those ones, meaning commercial ones, public ones are on the relay only.
Makes sense, no way even using 64 qam, with the HD including, can you get 50 odd channels on 3 mux without degrading the signal quality, meaning less than 1 mbps, fine until you watch sport.

Great news tests show despite 24 miles from Coventry, even in the loft, using a log A group aerial and a 23db gain amplifier that I can get channels 23, and looks like 26, first worked through the bathroom window, so tried the loft.
I assumed it was 20 miles, measured on an old map, around 24 miles from me, wow.
So it seems, when they switch the arq and sdn channels, if I use another aerial I have, should be able to get them, not bothered about the bbc and usual lot, I have on freesat anyway, so cool :).
Not boasting, reason for posting is to give people hope and an idea, so if someone like me searching in future, it shows and proves what one can do.
Waltham 43 miles away and I do okay, has toy be out side, poles joined and 12 foot or so, and about 8 feet above the guttering say, and get 95% and 100% strength and quality on ch 61 at 50,000 and around 55% to 70% and up to 100% sometimes on quality on channel 57 at 25,000 kws.
So at only 1,260kws at 24 miles away, think no chance, especially in the loft, but no, it can be done, obviously depends what and where you are, I'm missing according to map, Kenilworth just and Stratford and Warwick, so mostly going over open space fact clips warwick castle it seems.
Anyway as I say I do so hope that helps anyone thinking oh no, can not get what I was on Allesley Park or other small relay transmitter, well now maybe you can, on another one, glitch free, not like 12 plus years ago, better transmission and boxes and amps now, so good luck anyone, tinker around, give it a go and you just might never know, :).

More tests need to be done, especially on 28th Sep after, when Lark Stoke changes some commerical channels and puts power up, but I thought best also now post my Lark Stoke one here also, as on the very subject:

The above posting should read long A, not log, however the one I do propose using, one outside on Waltham now, is a DB log Periodic classed as 22 element with a 25 db gain mast head amp.
As I said in my above posts, so might not work for everyone, trial and error, initial tests prove promising, and likely, assuming the new SDN and Aqv channels transmit the same as others, all around, not directional then likely I can get them in the loft, benefits, given ex-hurricane Katia type events are worth it.
I'll let you know if it works out. :).

Update today, in loft, 24 miles from Lark Stoke, in dip:
Using what I'd call a Yagi wideband, as had changed some elements on it, so I'd say like
B to C etc. Here are the following results:
Channel 26: Signal Strength 65 to 80% and Quality can be 100%
Channel 23: SS is 80% to 95% and quality 100%.
Think got the channels the right way around.
Interestingly, no difference it seems between the 13 db gain amplifier and 23 db one.
I'll do further testing tomorrow as rain expected then.
Then on 28th Sep, when they finally switch the channels sdn and aqv onto channels 41 and 44 and the one I want 47.
If all goes well, my outside one on Waltham at 42 to 43 miles away, around the same quality and strength incidently will come down.
Advantages are massive, as I'll avoid the winds and gales when we get them and being autumn, well, need I say more.
I'll be then using the 25 pounds, on offer, log periodic one, also weird, cause it different from the one advertised, and better, cause 22 element and 25 variable dc gain masthead amplifier, so very useful indeed and expect good results.
Though Allesley Park, booms through on 25, it does not seem to interfere at all with 26 that I'm aware of, unless, maybe that's why signal a bit lower and iffy compared to 23, which seems stronger, so may, only may do further testing Wed or Thursday once Allesley Park gets it's complete switch over to see if 23 is then getting hit a bit.
But so far, reception wise and watching it on old black and white tv in loft, i'd say less glitch, hardly any I noticed, unless I touched things, than with the Waltham one.
This proves, despite what is being said, trial and error, one can get signals on an aerial and amp from over 20 miles away from a transmitter, only kicking 1260 kws.
My worry has been all those poor people, know nothing about TV's, not technical, and finding after switchover, ouch, signals lost, breaking up.
Signal was weak, has installed professional put in hi gain aerial and maybe Amp and not tell them, later on in few years, months, whatever, it will be too much once that boost the power up, TUT TUT.

YAY, lowered and increased the signal, likely 20db gain now, but might still need max, loaded them, but playing up badly, see previous posts for what I'm on about, anyway problems sorted it seems, now one has to always hope for now wind, lol, fat chance, especially this time of year, :(.
