Brian Fifield: No, it is most unlikely that Muxco Somerset will add Chard to the local radio network in the immediate future. It has already been announced that the Somerset local mux, which will carry BBC Somerset will launch from Mendip, Hutton and Taunton initially. The build-out of the BBC national network is a completely different plan, which aims to extend coverage to reach 97% of the population by 2015.

Patrick: Unfortunately you appear to be out of range for reception of the Brighton local mux, Digital UK does not show this mux at all within the table for predicted reception at your location.

John Cheall: If reception was good before the re-tune then it should still be so as there was no change made to the East and West Midlands transmitters, just slight changes to the content of some muxes and the numbering in the channel list. It is likely that you could have found signals from different transmitters to the one that your aerial points to. You are predicted to receive East Mids from both Waltham and Kimberley and West Mids from Sutton Coldfield, so there is plenty of scope for one or more muxes to be wrongly tuned in. If your receiver has the option of manual tuning, this would be the best solution to the problem, after first clearing the channel list of all data. For Waltham the correct frequencies are C49, C54, C58(HD), C29, C56, C57, C31(HD) and C26 (local). For Kimberley - C27, C24, C21(HD), C51, C52, C48, and C50 (local). Sutton Coldfield uses C43, C46, C40(HD), C42, C45, C39 and C33(HD).

Walker: Try a manual tune on C22 if your receiver has a manual tuning facility. It is just possible this evening that out of area signals are causing interference to reception of the Belmont transmission.

William Hill: Or you could have an aerial pointing to Durris. Unfortunately the frequencies used at Eyemouth are interleaved with those at Durris, so it is not possible to use a simple diplexer to combine two aerials, however having a second Freeview box (or a TV in another room) set on Durris would give you the option of a full service

SomeGuyFromBristol: Does your aerial point to Wenvoe, due to local topography blocking the signal path to Mendip and KWH, or do you receive both sets of signals? If the latter is the case your tuner will put the West region services in the 800s of the channel list, simply because they are on a higher frequency so are found later in the scan. It is a fact though, that in many parts of the country it is simply not possible to receive the correct regional TV services, and sometimes radio services too, due to intervening hills blocking the signal path.

Briantist: Since Arqiva own most of the masts it doesn,t really matter where it is located. Calbeck having a second set of PSB mux transmitters specifically for Scotland should present no real problem in the event that a different broadcaster is appointed to serve Scotland. Suppose that there is a "no" vote, but Scotland takes responsibility for licencing its own broadcasting, as part of the deal for extra powers for the Scottish parliament. Would ITV bother about losing the asset of Border Scotland's territory to STV, or would it rejoice at shedding a liability? Some commercial radio broadcasters are already geared up to being "Scotland friendly" - Bauer Media and Talksport for example. A new SBC would no doubt work with the BBC for some content, even if it wasn't an ams length part of the BBC. The SFN on DAB could present problems however, if , for example, it was decided to create a Scottish equivalent of Radio 1! I would expect Radio3 and Radio4 to remain available as they are currently, funded partially by Scottish licence payers, as the SBC would be shooting themselves in the foot to deprive Scottish listeners of some unique services that they might enjoy.

Mark Baker: After doing the factory reset, commence the scan with the aerial unplugged so as to miss out PSB1 (C22) and PSB2 (C25) from Belmont. Plug the aerial back in at about C26 on the scan, then with luck you should get a full set of Waltham channels stored.

Iain Davies: The amount of overspill from DTT masts is not worth worrying about. The situation already exists where the broadcast rights to a football match may be restricted to Scotland, resulting in satellite and internet services being unable to show it, but DTT transmission is allowed. Similarly the encryption on RTE prevents reception over much of Europe via satellite whereas DTT is free to air with slight overspill into Wales. Remember too that European law prevents encryption purely to restrict territory, hence why RTE is part of a Sky package and spot beams have been introduced on free to air satellite services.

Stuart Owens: Yes, of course. Maybe the Digital UK abreviations should really be used, so L-LIV for Liverpool and L-MAN and G-MAN for the Manchester muxes!
