David: MuxHD increases power from 4kW to 174kW on 21st September 2011. It will be transmitted on C41+ from this date.

Brian Taylor: The answer to both questions is yes. In most areas after switchover the digital PSB services use the same frequencies and polarisation as the former analogue service. Note that the COM muxes are only available from main stations and some former relay sites which serve larger populations.In some locations it may be necessary to change aerial polarisation when changing between local PSB channels and distant COM services.

Roland Parfitt: Did you try the tv in any other room with the cable from that room alone connected direct to the aerial? If the aerial is directed at Wenvoe the Digital UK postcode checker predicts good reception for all muxes at your location.Also did you try the tv in the loft plugged into the signal booster? If that works it shows the booster is ok, if not either too much signal is being delivered or the booster is not working.Check that the cable to the kitchen is undamaged and there are no stray strands from the braid touching the inner core at each connecting point, also that the inner core is not broken.If the signal from the aerial is reasonably strong in the loft it should still be strong enough to use with a single cable run but may require amplification when split between several tv sets.

Sundial: The Digital UK postcode checker shows no prediction for Freeview on today's date at your location. You are expected to have good reception from the Wharfedale relay on the 3 PSB muxes from switchover (7th September and 21st September 2011). You are also expected to have good reception at first from Addingham but this will become variable in 2012 when Bilsdale switches over and the Bilsdale COM muxes become co-channel. Finding a null for Addingham might deliver the COM muxes from Bilsdale at that time, although Digital UK offer no prediction for any reception of COM muxes at your location.

Caz: The BBC radio stations are carried on MuxB (MuxBBCA after switchover). However Kerrang and The Hits are both carried on MuxD/MuxArqB. You are missing MuxD on C49- so need to check for interference from a VCR or Sky box with the RF modulator set around C48/49. Also check that cables and connectors are in good order.This Mux has a lower power than the rest to minimise interference to Mux1 from Waltham in overlap areas. As a result it is likely to be the first one to be affected by poor connections or trees in leaf in the signal path. If you are within range of Waltham it is also possible that the East Midlands Mux1 signal is blocking your MuxD reception.

Nick: The aerial group with best performance for C68 is group E. Although C68 is not used after switchover stage2, a group E receiving aerial would be suitable for the post swichover frequencies. The Digital UK postcode checker shows your freeview reception to be variable at best (with all muxes at full power from 27th June 2012) and currently does not offer a prediction at your location.

Adam: According to the Digital UK postcode checker you are predicted to get good reception on all muxes from Lark Stoke at the present time. Note that you are looking for C60 (MuxArqB) for Film4 etc. In addition to Lark Stoke you are also predicted to receive all services from Sutton Coldfield and Ridge Hill.If you have the missing channels in your channel list but these give no signal when selected make sure that the correct signal for the transmitter intended to be received by the aerial has been found when scanning. Clear the channel list by doing a factory reset and manually insert the channels for Lark Stoke if necessary. These are C23, C26, C30- (HD if required), C31, C57 and C60.

David: If the signal from Darvel is weak using a group A receiving aerial rather than a tri-boom would give improved signal pick-up. Use a good quality 18 element group A yagi, or for a class 1 aerial a Blake DMX10A or Triax Unix52A. You are correct when you say that the masthead amp would require removing or replacing if you wanted to receive Black Hill signals.The Digital UK postcode checker predicts good reception from Black Hill at your location both now and after switchover, however whilst based on the general terrain along the signal path it does not take into account tall buildings, trees or other local obstructions.Inserting your house number into the D.UK.postcode checker would give a more accurate prediction.

Gareth: The Digital UK postcode checker currently predicts good reception at your location on MuxB, Mux2 and MuxD. MuxD is shown as deteriorating slightly to variable in November 2011. MuxC is variable but Mux1 and MuxA are both shown as poor.This continues until switchover when you will receive MuxBBCA from 13th June 2012. The other muxes adopt their post switchover powers and frequencies on 27th June 2012. If you have ITV2 you should also have the other channels in Mux2. Try doing a factory reset to clear the channel list before scanning for channels if you have ITV1 etc in the channel list but no reception when the channel is selected. As you say moving the aerial (and raising or lowering it) might improve on the number of muxes being received.

Harold D Streets:According to the Digital UK postcode checker you should have good reception on all muxes from the Malvern transmitter (aerial set for vertical polarisation) It is possible that you found signals and stored the channels from Ridge Hill and/or The Wrekin which could cause the stronger Malvern signals to be overlooked as duplicates. Clear the channel list by doing a factory reset or complete scan with the aerial unplugged. Try doing a scan with the aerial unplugged until you reach channel 30, then insert the aerial for the rest of the scan.This should miss out the unwanted signals before finding the required Malvern muxes.
