Elliot (hockley): Have you tried Bluebell Hill? There is a chance that you could receive MuxD and a lesser chance of MuxA, both are predicted as variable reception by the Digital UK postcode checker.

John Russell; What is your postcode?- so a check can be made of predicted reception at your location. Sutton Coldfield will continue to transmit BBC West Midlands after switchover. The Derby relay transmits a signal intended to serve viewers with aerials pointing towards Sutton Coldfield in the Allestree and Chaddesden areas. This will transmit the MuxBBCA (East Midlands) on C48 from 31st August 2011, replacing the analogue BBC1 service. Most viewers in Derby will be able to receive the East Midlands service direct from Waltham when using a suitable aerial. MuxBBCA (East Mids)is to be transmitted from Waltham at high power from 17th August 2011.

Elliot (hockley): Sudbury is 7 degrees if you are in Hockley, but 2 degrees for Southend-on-Sea, as per your second postcode.

JG: It is likely that you have Sudbury channels stored in the normal places and Tacolneston channels in the 800s. If possible do a manual tune for each of the Tacolneston frequencies after doing a factory reset to clear the channel list. You probably were out of range for the Sudbury signals prior to DSO at Sudbury which would explain why the problem was not seen previously.

Roger: The transmitter power was increased from 10kW to 50kW, however on the down side the mode changed to 8k, 64QAM and the transmission now uses a higher frequency which in your location is harder to receive due to the hill that obstructs the signal path from Waltham. The digital UK postcode checker predicts reception to be changeable after switchover on all muxes with only PSB1 and PSB2 showing good reception by 2013. After 5th October 2011 the Digital UK postcode checker shows good reception on the Derby relay (for East Midlands signals) together with a full service from Sutton Coldfield, all with good reception when using an aerial pointing to Sutton Coldfield.

Duncan Ross: The power of the SDN mux is now 50kW, it was only 10kW before switchover. The "low" power status is only relative to the generous 150kW now used by the PSB muxes. If you were able to receive Mux1 (BBC1 etc) with good reception before switchover you should have no difficulty with Mux SDN which has changed frequency to C30-. Did you do a factory reset to clear the channel list before scanning for channels?

Toni Allison: The Digital UK postcode checker does not make any prediction for reception from Sutton Coldfield at your location until after switchover. At this stage you might as well wait for DSO stage 2 on 21st September 2011, after which you are expected to have good reception of MuxD3+4.

Tom Humphreys: The Digital UK postcode checker shows that Crystal Palace gives you better reception overall both now and after switchover. Mux1 and MuxC are currently shown as variable reception. After switchover all muxes from Crystal Palace are shown as good reception. In fact the East Anglia signals you are receiving are probably coming from Rouncefall. This transmitter is expected to give good reception at your location, but only transmits the 3 PSB muxes. The COM muxes for Sudbury currently have poor or no reception predicted. If your aerial is a group A type for Crystal Palace it would not be suitable for pointing at Sudbury or Rouncefall.

Brian King: The power of each mux is raised to 200kW at DSO. At present the HD service is only 10kW and the other muxes are 20kW.

Joanna Tate: It is likely that you are receiving interference from faulty equipment that is turned on at that time. Does this only happen on Saturdays, or is there any problem on other days at that or any other regular time? A central heating boiler coming on (to give hot water for a bath) or a security light that is in use for that half hour are two possibilities.
