Below are all of KMJ, Derby's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Gh and DaveG: After reading Mike's post above I checked and discovered that it is C44 that is released by Guildford on 4th April 2012, so as Mike said Mux ArqA will switch to full power on that date, with SDN and ArqB following on 18th April 2012.

Alex: Although the Crystal Palace signal on C31 is predicted to offer reasonable odds on giving good reception on the HD services, the signal is at risk of interference from both Sandy Heath and Reigate at your location. When retuning at a time of receiving a poor quality signal (or no signal) the details of the HD channels would have been removed from the receiver's memory. Wait until 18th April 2012 for the high power HD service to start at Crystal Palace, otherwise, until that date keep looking at doing a manual tune on C31 to see if the low power signal has returned.

John Titley: If you have a reasonable line of sight to the South (no trees or tall buildings) you are predicted to receive the COM muxes from Preseli with about a 70% chance of reliable reception. ArqB changes frequency in October 2012 and reception is shown as improving somewhat in November 2012. Any proposed additional muxes are also likely to require reception from Preseli in order to receive them.

Ben: If your aerial is pointing to the Rowridge transmitter you will not find any (usable) signal for analogue channel Five, the Fawley transmitter which used to transmit channel Five to the Southampton area having been closed already to release the frequency for digital transmissions at Rowridge. The absence of Muxes 1,2 and D suggests interference affecting C32/33/34 or an aerial problem with these frequencies. Check that there are no VCR or Sky box modulators set around C33. Note that Mux1 and Mux2 will change frequency and adopt high power working at switchover, MuxD/ArqB (also SDN and ArqA) changes frequency and increases power on 18th April 2012.

Lesley:I assume you mean that you only receive the PSB muxes with basic BBC, ITV1&2/C4/C5 etc. Why was Eyemouth relay chosen for your TV reception? The digital UK postcode checker shows Chatton to be the transmitter offering the best reception, subject to you not having any local obstructions in the signal path which is roughly SE from your location. Chatton also transmits the COM muxes, which due to economic constraints are not usually available from relay sites. Note that Chatton transmits Tyne-Tees/BBC NE, so if you were to use this transmitter you would need to have your Eyemouth aerial diplexed into the downlead to continue receiving Scottish transmissions.

robert gross: If you have standard Sky boxes and wish to discontinue the subscription they will continue to receive all the free to air channels. It is only when using Sky+ equipment, when ending the subscription would disable the record/playback function that you would need to replace your equipment in order to maintain the use of all functions.

caroline: The G83 postcode area is not very precise for giving an accurate prediction of expected reception, however in most parts of this postcode area it is usual to find excellent reception on the PSB muxes only from Milburn Muir (aerial set for vertical polarisation) and also good reception on all six muxes from Darvel (aerial pointing SSE with rods horizontal). Could you give more information about the TV and aerial that you are trying to use, without success.

Keith Seymour: It might be worth trying an aerial pointing at Emley Moor for reception of extra channels. Use a group "B" aerial set for horizontal polarisation and pointing south for Emley Moor - a glance at your neighbour's aerials would show if anyone had already been successful in receiving Emley Moor.

john: ITV1+1 in the Westcountry region is currently ITV1 Wales, as you have observed. This is because there are a limited number of regions fitted with equipment for the ITV1+1 service. A similar situation exists with regard to the ITV1 HD service, regions not yet upgraded for HD take the service from a region that is suitably equipped. Remember that to increase the number of ITV1+1 and ITV1HD feeds would require extra capacity on satellite if the services are to be made available on all platforms, thereby increasing the transmission costs, which ITV are understandably not in a hurry to do.

Gh: Unless the aerial is obviously defective it is best to avoid having aerial work done until the full DSO process is complete, which in the case of Hannington ( and coincidentally Crystal Palace) is 18th April 2012. At present you are only predicted to be able to (reliably) receive Mux BBCA, with Mux D3+4 and MuxHD becoming available on 22nd February 2012. The COM muxes will adopt full power working on 4th April (SDN) and 18th April (ArqA and ArqB). If your receiver permits manual tuning try doing a factory reset, then manually insert C43 to see if it will still find and store low power Mux2. Do the same for C40 C41 and C44 before entering C45. Also check that all connectors are in order and not losing any signal through poor contact.
