The channel is identified by its SID number 6942 and at the moment is encrypted. I have now noticed that when I press the info button on the remote control it shows the now and next information. This information relates to ITV 1.

Mike Dimmick: On the now and next information on this ITV1 HD channel, SID number 6942, it is showing Meridian News and Weather. I think it is any ones guess as to which regional variation it will eventually be.

Mike Dimmick: The BT Tower 1080i50 HD test card on frequency 12726 V, with the SID of 54515 went encrypted a couple of days ago, so now all you can see is a blank screen.

I know this isn't much help but I have a Panasonic DMR-BS850 Freesat receiver fed from a 50cm dish and the Channel 4HD picture is rock solid on my TV. I think you can disregard the transmission method that Channel 4HD is using and concentrate on the signal path from the LNB to the TV screen.

George Buchanan: Can you try something. Select Channel 4HD then go into menu and select signal condition. There you will get the signal strength and signal quality readings. On my Panasonic Freesat receiver the signal strength is about 9 out of 10 and the signal quality is 5 out 0f 10. The most important one is signal quality. If your signal quality is very low then this will result in your stuttering picture. The only way around this is to have your dish re-aligned to improve the signal quality. Also do this check will BBC One HD. If you are getting a maximum of signal strength and signal quality on this then your dish can be slightly re-aligned to improver the signal quality on Channel 4HD without losing hardly any signal quality on BBC One HD.

Briantist: I have noticed that there is an encrypted channel appeared on Astra 2D transponder 50 (Frequency 10847, Vertical). This is the transponder that carries the BBC HD channels, BBC HD and BBC One HD. It is shown as a HD channel and is identified by its SID number 6942. I wonder if this is were Channel 4HD will be transmitted from and eventually be FTA.
