Also the BBC have decided to use this satellite feed to show the qualifing stages and the races.

Briantist: Frequency 12607 vertical on Eurobird 1 as switched standards from DVB-S QPSK to DVB-S2 QPSK. The symbol rate as also been changed from 27500 to 28250. At the moment it is showing Channel 4HD free-to-air. The channel currently is identified by its SID number 55300.

Briantist: 4HD as now appeared at the top left-hand corner of the screen. For some reason when I scan the transponder on the other channels option on my Panasonic Freesat receiver it picks up the transmission but it shows NO SIGNAL on the TV screen. Whereas there is no problem on the Free-To-Air receivers. This particular transponder I believe is steerable so would this make it suitable for beaming a signal to the UK without it spreading towards central Europe.

Les: It went encrypted during Desperate Housewifes this morning. I don't watch much on Channel 4 even in standard definition but I checked to see if it was still FTA. The sreen went blank with the message "no video or audio", so I changed channels then back again and it came up as "scrambled program". On my Panasonic Freesat receiver it as always described it as "Pay TV - Encrypted". What I can't understand is why they have chosen a symbol rate of 28250, whereas all Sky HD transponders have a symbol rate of 29500.

Briantist: I have noticed that there is an encrypted channel appeared on Astra 2D transponder 50 (Frequency 10847, Vertical). This is the transponder that carries the BBC HD channels, BBC HD and BBC One HD. It is shown as a HD channel and is identified by its SID number 6942. I wonder if this is were Channel 4HD will be transmitted from and eventually be FTA.
