I had this nightmare this week too. The only sure way is to do a complete reset (factory reset) of your equipment to remove all the channels (some equipment will remove all channels when retuning without doing this) and then do a Manual Retune of just the 6 channels you need (you don't need the HD channel if you don't use HD). If you search this site for the transmitter you are using you can find the channel numbers you require. My PVR picked up duplicate channels which made it unusable.

May only be on certain areas perhaps Cliff; we're on Sandy Heath transmitter in East Anglia.
However it does no harm to do a retune every now and then as long as you don't pick up and save duplicate programs on extra channels from other regions; then it's not such a good idea.

Marie, most TVs and PVR boxes ask you if you want to save the channels before you go back to watching them.
You need to check your instruction book. If they don't ask you to 'save' then it's normally done automatically.
If you haven't got the user guide then you can find most of them online as pdf files to download.
If you still have problems let us know the make and model number of the unit and I'll try and find out. Mike.

Bill, you should not have any channels at 800 and above.
The best way to get rid of all the unwanted channels and start again is to do a factory reset. This will remove all saved channels, your favourites and programmed schedule (what you set to record) but it's the only way.
Once you have reset the unit choose 'Manual Tune' and just tune in the 6 channels for your transmitter (only 5 needed if the unit does not work in HD mode). The channel numbers can be found on this site. Provided you have a reasonable signal this will work.
One of the reasons we are all having problems is that now most areas have completely changed over to Digital the transmitter power has been increased and we are now picking up signals from more than one transmitter. I can foresee a lot more problems in the future because of this.
Most people just do a 'Auto tune' when updating but this is going to cause problems for many.
Technically using an aerial attenuator and setting it until only the strongest signal is recognised would be one answer but not practical for the average consumer.

Hi Ian,
According to the map you should be beaming SSW to Oxford and receiving your signals on Channels 53, 60, 57 (HD if required), 62, 59, 55. No reports of problems with this transmitter.
There's a chance that when you Auto retuned you picked up a different transmitter which may account for your weak signal on some channels.
Do a 'factory reset' on the unit and a Manual Retune to just those channels and all should be well. You may need to refer to your User Guide to do that.

Hi Ian, if you are on Sandy Heath you need to do a Manual Tune on channels 27, 24, 21 (HD if needed), 51, 52, 48.
I'm on Sandy too and there have been no problems that I've noticed, so chances are you've grabbed a few extra wrong channels instead; maybe from Oxford off the back of your aerial; not unusual. Hope that sorts it out.

Getting Ch19 'Yesterday' OK here Phil, can't think of any reason as they are all high power now, unless they're doing maintenance on that mux?

Steve, can't imagine what's happening. If you do a factory reset and then a Manual tune on those channels from Sandy Heath it should clear out all the old channels and put the correct ones in the correct order.
What TV or PVR are you trying to tune?

Mick I think the only way is to do a 'factory reset' and then a Manual tune of the 6 channels you need on Sandy Heath. The channels for that transmitter are 27, 24, 21+(HD), 51, 52, 48. If your equipment does not handle HD then you can leave out Ch21+.
I've had this nightmare with the retune this week too and Manual tuning is the only way round it. Hope that helps, Mike.
