You don't need to be approved by Freesat to be able to fit a dish and make sure it works correctly.

I would have doubt to their ability just given the fact they carry a sky box to prove their dish is working and quickly blaming you equipment.

If I was in that situation my customer would trust my advice and even if they didn't I would simply show them the 4 beams on my satellite meter to put their minds at ease.

You either have an issue with the tv or your aerial system.

Its more likely to be the aerial system.

If your aerial is mounted outside you should view the condition, it may have moved or fallen or simply be too old to perform correctly. They have a lifespan of approx. 25 years depending on location.

This also includes the cables, if it is externally run it may have deteriorated.

Its a shame that there are traders like them.

im not sure on your location but you should be able to get another local installer to pop round and give you a free signal test, this would take minutes, at least then you would have something to go on.

Unless your in London and in another persons words "I don't get out of bed for less than £80" in this case you might struggle to get a decent installer just to test it for you.

Alternatively buy a £30 freesat box and connect it to the cable and see if this picks up the channels, if it doesn't then your issue is definitely the system.

By the sounds of the workmanship I find it hard to believe it will be your tv not working, satellite signal is very sensitive and requires it to be near perfect.

You need to fit a 2 way splitter in the main room where the sky box currently is.

Connect the main aerial feed into the 2 way splitter, using the RF2 cable from the sky box (which currently runs the bedrooms) connect this to 1 of the outputs on the 2 way splitter, the 2nd output on the splitter can be used to connect a cable to your main tv.

Are you using a 4g filter?

if so where have you fitted it?

Also does your system have a booster?

if so what is the location of the booster?

sb paid £140 including 2 freeview runs from existing aerial, so not a bad price.

Emma:

Your location postcode would be a good starting point.

Also where is the aerial fitted ie chimney, side of house, loft

Emma:

for people to assist with likely problems its easy to know the postcode of the property, we can then check the local terrain and which transmitter your using.

If a signal is marginal (iffy) then you are more likely to have problems at night rather than during the day.

Pat Collis:

If the signal being received is marginal and not very good there will be times that you have perfect reception and times that you have issues.

It is common for marginal signal to be worst in the night and in mornings, working perfectly well during the day and early evening.

You may need to get your system tested to make sure its performing correctly.

Logik is a cheap brand for a reason.

It may be that both you have tv reception that is not the best it could be.

I find it many times that cheaper brands tvs tuners will struggle if the reception is not perfect, where a better brand will be more forgiving and can generally cope perfectly with marginal signals.
