Below are all of PaulN's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page. Here's a weird thing... my Triax TR112 SaorView box happily picks up SaorView from Clermont and FreeView from Divis cos of my two aerials etc.
However - it doesn't find the HD Freeview channels - whereas my Panasonic DVB-T2 equipped TV (and HDD recorder) does from the identical setup.
There must be something signalled on the HD FreeView channels that the SaorView box doesnt like - but it happily ingests all the SD FreeView channels & EPG data. Odd.

Another weird thing is that while my Panasonic DVB-T2 HDD Recorder picks up both SaorView & FreeView signals in SD and HD....
My Panasonic DVB-T2 TV only finds the FreeView channels.
There must be some differences in the software that controls the searching/tuning operation on the two devices where presumably some SI/PSI data is being ignored by the HDD so it can 'see' all channels that present themselves - while the TV is programmed to ignore anything other than FreeView multiplexes.
Not really a problem - just a curious observation !

@Briantist - I just performed a manual scan of C52 on the panny T2 tele and it is 100% happy with SaorView.
I just figured how I missed this yesterday - I did a full auto/install tune on that TV yesterday morning around 9am and thought it odd the Analog RTE was still on air and I was really only expecting a proper SaorView box to find SaorView muxes.
I tuned the other devices to SaorView much later in the day - so obviously Clermont wasn't running full power early yesterday morning.
BTW - I have just ordered another DMR-100HW recorder for another room - its last years model at a bargain around GBP180 on Amazon right now - SaorView & FreeView SD/HD twin tuner HDD recorder.
Its all good :)

I witnessed a good example of RTE licensing regulation in effect on Day-1 of DSO... RTE2 has rights for Champions League soccer games to broadcast in ROI.
Watching RTE2 on the NIMM - you get black screen with an apology while the game is on... curiously though the adverts are viewable so they must have real-time control of this specially for NIMM delivery.
Watching RTE2 on SaorView in HD (woohoo) then no such restrictions apply.

Agreed Mike, but from regulatory perspective I would expect that RTE is forced to schedule the 'black out' on NIMM for such content - as that cannot be classified as overspill.

@Pete - I know the TR112 isnt FreeView certified... the fact it picks up anything is a bonus, but I understand that SaorView is a DVB-T2 system... perhaps a subset of all specs which is why FreeView T2 boxes can ingest the SaorView channels but not the other way around ?

@Pete - Thanks for clarifying... My knowledge of the NIMM led be to believe that SaorView was also DVB-T2... I hadn't looked at the small print of DVB-T to realise that MPEG4/H264 was supported along with MPEG2.
That explains why the SaorView box can only work with DVB-T FreeView muxes.

Anybody else having problems with C52 from Claremont carn tonight??? Dunno if it's weather related.
My sets are showing very poor signal tonight so maybe my masthead amp has died. Nothing else changed but has been a while since I tried it. I was seeing some errors a couple of weeks ago due to reduced quality but now I have black screens. :-(

Been up in the attic and checked I still have power into my saorview aerial amp. Swapped the amp for another with a little more gain but still I get black screen. Odd as the mast hasn't moved and chances of cable damage are negligible as nothing has changed in months.

@Paddy - RTE is on NIMM at C39 - I get it fine much further away than you... do a manual scan at C39 and you should be good.
You need a horizontal aerial pointed at Divis/Black Mountain and a T2 receiver.
