Jerri Petrie: We have no idea where you are, but if your losing channels in bad weather, sounds like your system has a problem.

MikeP: Tes - its not a perfect solution, and if he has an old Sky box anyway, I'd use that - just makes life easier. Of course by using an external hard drive, you could record from the sat. tuner, but a PVR makes life a lot easier.

MikeP: But we also want to use them in more ways, for browsing the web, emails, streaming, etc. But actually, it costs much less to use them that way that it would have done, even 5 years ago.
That bandwidth has to come from somewhere, but its perfectly possible for us to have both more spectrum for mobile and make much better use of the terrestial TV spectrum as well.

Chris Shaw: But they will probably get better - and sometimes it depends what network your on. Last summer, my family was on holiday in the far north of Scotland - and it was very isolated. My wife is on one mobile network, and got nothing. If I went outside the cottage (which had 2ft thick stone walls!) I could get a perfect full signal - much better than the one I get at home.

John: Check signal strength - might be too high or low.

John: Check your aerial lead - if they are a bit dodgy, then the mux might not being picked up. At least its an easy check -just swap out the lead. Or just pop it into the socket where the other ones are - might be the feed.

My mystery at the moment is that at least one mux on my HD box is pretty poor, but yet the TV which is looped through the box has a perfect signal strength - can't understand that one at all.

Roy bracy: Ask yourself why after 5.30pm....is a there a timer/thermostat working somewhere, and when does it come on?

Robert: You might still get too strong a signal - check it and see. 75% is sort of perfect, but it might be just too high, even with an indoor aerial. A cheap attentuator could do the trick, less than a fiver at Toolstation/Screwfix.

Chris.SE: I've got the older Now TV box, and you can't knock it for value (nice to know the new one does 1080), but the full Roku does give a lot more.

I saw the Roku Stick for 35 not long ago at sainsburys - although it seems to be currently about 40.

Good for them. Of course the current head of the Culture Committee will complain about it, but it is one of those things which people actually do like. Perhaps it might send a message...
