well i have always had a perfect set up and must be the only person who has now got less signal then before
i have always had 10 for quality and 5 for strength and after switch over i now get 8 for quality and 5 for strength

i have used a attenuator just to see what difference that would make and all that does is drop the quality to 4

Also on HD i now get 9 for quality and 5 for strength but the sound has to be turned well up to more then half so if whoever can deal with that would be great has you have to remember to turn the sound well down when coming out of a HD channel

overall a mixed bag

I'm like Brian who is a expert in this field and for this type of thing to effect me is madness as i use the very best that money can buy of all equipment and also use one of sussex's leading installers and yet it has all gone pear shaped for me not by much but still not good

I have spoked many times to the bbc and my gut feeling is there not that clever by far
I've had to tell them months ago about the HD sound hardly coming through on some TV's and they have still not addressed the issue but tell me their working on it

God knows what they've been up to my local dealer has a good one month of work to now get through at £50 per visit to hundreds of customers who have got a mish mash of problems across the board

Well for what it's worth everything was fine my end until last Sunday and then lost the lot and today everything is back but with signal quality down and strength at around the 7 mark
I guess my booster is on the blink or is not as good as i thought maybe some interference is creeping in from somewhere

For pvr's and HD recorders the top brands are humax and Panasonic and it would be wise to stick on these 2 brands only if in doubt as the other brands can be aerial quality /strength specific and may not be suitable at this time under varying condition's

Loft aerials | Installing
Thursday 19 April 2012 10:42PM

Geoff it would be wise aerials in loft's are only in general for specialist undertaking as so often to get a decent quality you have to get a top aerial and although it may not be that expensive by the time you have had a booster installed for the whole house and the time taking to get it all right it invariably ends up expensive

Just an update in that the aerial engineers for crawley and gatwick and surrounding areas have told me that on the switch over all was well but in the second switch-over everything has gone wrong and they in many cases have had to go out again to find out why

Does anyone know on what the guys at crystal palace have done for the second changeover that was so very different from the first changeover ?

Many thanks JB
I will keep you updated for this neck of the woods and will let you know what the chief engineer of Digital UK has to say when i speak with him on Monday

I'm finding in my house only my 10 years old Japanese sony dvd recorder working perfectly and my sony tv in my daughters bedroom

my sons new phillips tv and our main top of the range new Panasonic that was ok on the first change over but has now failed on the second change over

looks like i will now need to buy a another couple of Sony TV's i do know that only Sony hold the main patent for the receiver chip

samsung and LG TV's don't work in my house at all and never have done despite the companies concerned were looking in to it

My train of thought here is that the whole oversight of the switch over has been badly executed by team without much overall understanding of the tv tuner chips involved
