Well, hopefully it wont happen Jordy.

Would be money in Sky's pocket if it did.

Are Moville and Holywell Hill currently on full power at the moment Peter ? I don't think there is any power restriction on either.

As far as I'm aware, only Truskmore and Clermont Cairn are on restricted power until October 24th.

UTV HD coming to Sky, Freesat and Freeview
Friday 27 April 2012 7:28PM

I agree with you Conner.

Now that the rights issues etc. have been sorted out, there's absolutely no reason why UTV HD (and UTV+1) should not be on Sky and Freesat now.

Well Carl, one of the reasons is that Freeview power levels in NI, pre DSO, seem woefully low compared to the rest of the UK. All other main transmitters were 10 or 20 kw before switchover, not 2.3/1.6 kw. (800w for Brougher asnd Limivady). For example, Black Hill and Rowridge were both 20kw. Why NI Freeview ERPs are so low is beyond me. Surely, between now and DSO they could increase the power at Divis to at least 5, or maybe 10 kw and add the HD channels between now and October ? Why, as usual, does NI have to wait so long for these advances in broadcast technology to come to the province (the DAB situation and lack of Digital One is another disgrace) ?

Not having Freeview HD is a real pain, especially as we miss out, yet again, on two major sporting events. GRRRRRRRR.

Still, roll on October Carl. I'm counting down the weeks

P.S. 23 isn't great hear either Carl (Jordanstown) but during the high power tests in January signal levels were endstopping, even on 23.I also think the switch to 8k mode whould also improve things.

If you're getting some sort of signal, even if it's breaking up, October should show a massive improvement. I'm highly optomistic about this if the tests in January are anything to go by.

Jim: ERP means "effective radiated power". This takes into accout the gain of the transmitting antenna, as opposed to just the power of the transmitter itself.

Peter: Re. Truskmore VHF. On Wednesday 24th October all analogue transmitters, including VHF will be shut down.
