Robert :

Aren't you are asking in the wrong place? I suggest you ask your MP.

Linda Reilly:

Have your signals returned?
I can't find any reported faults for the transmitter nor any logged power-cuts although a brief one due to weather conditions might not be logged.

Your location could receive signals from 3 transmitters. For Findon your aerial should be pointing at compass bearing 352 degrees (that's almost due N) with its rods (or squashed Xs) vertical. Is it pointing that way?

Findon is a relay of Rowridge which is listed for Planned Engineering, so it's possible a biref interruption there may have affected Findon.

The Belmont transmitter has currently been listed for Planned Engineering (as per post before yours) which may well have affected some signals.
It not advised to retune/rescan when you have no signal or badly pixellated pictures if you were previously correctly tuned as this will usually just clear correct tuning.

When all your other signals and channels are back to normal, if BBC2 is still missing then try clearing existing tuning by unplugging the aerial and doing a full retune - no signals found. Unplug the box from the mains for ten minutes. Reconnect mains and aerial and retune again.

As per the post before yours, the Durris transmitter is subject to Planned Engineering. If you are in a weaker signal area with an internal/ loft aerial, that is the most likely cause, but as you haven't given a full postcode we can't advise on that.
I doubt very much that there's any "manipulation" whatsoever.
And in any event, if Freeview reception in your locale was that bad, then there's always Freesat to consider. Most newer TVs have a satellite tuner, so all you'd need is a dish and LNB!

As per the Sandy Heath transmitter page on this site, it has been subject to Planned Engineering this week.

Sandy Heath transmitter: Possible effect on TV reception week commencing 31/07/2023 Pixelation or flickering on some or all channels [DUK]
It has not been stated if the work is yet complete.

Why were you retuning? if you were correctly tuned to start with and not been notified by any pop-up message that you need to retune, then retuning is rarely a good idea.

If you were correctly tuned, it is never advised to retune if you have no signal or badly pixellated pictures, this very often just clears the correct tuning. You then end up needing to retune again when signals are normal, and as you wont know when that might be you may have to try several times!

If you are correctly tuned, whether you have no signal, tropospheric interference or badly pixellated pictures then it's a case of waiting until conditions return to normal.
Do of course check that all your coax connections are plugged in correctly, and not corroded. That your aerial looks intact and is pointing in the correct direction and that the downlead is undamaged an not flapping about in the wind.

As per the post before yours, the transmitter has been the subject of Planned Engineering.
Even with Planned Engineering, it's unusual for there to be no signal for any lengthy periods but can appear so if you are in a weak signal area and the transmitter is on reduced power or reserve antenna.
As you haven't given a full postcode we can't advise on your normal predicted reception.

When you had badly pixellated pictures or no signal, did you retune at all?
If so, this may well have cleared your correct tuning. It's never advised to retune if you have no signal or badly pixellated pictures as this usually just clears the correct tuning.
If you have retuned, check in your TV Tuning section that you are correctly tuned to Beacon Hill's UHF channels as listed at the very top of this page.

C A Melling:

Have your signals returned to normal?
If not, what sort of problems are they? Are you just missing some channels or is it no signal on all, or badly pixellated pictures? Which channels are affected?

Have you checked that all the coax plugs behind the TV are plugged in correctly and there is no corrosion on the connectors?
Have you checked that your aerial looks intact and is still pointing in the correct direction and that the downlead isn't flapping around in the wind?

I can't find any reported faults for the transmitter and it's no longer on the list for Planned Engineering but it's possible work last week hasn't been completed.
If you provide a full postcode, we can check your predicted reception.

Yes trees can be a problem and can sometimes only affect one or two multiplexes as you get different multipath reception resulting from the branches and foliage, however that close to a reasonably powerful transmitter means it's usually less of a potential problem. Glad it's all sorted for you.
Just got any disruption from tropospheric weather conditions to cope with if any is likely in the near future.
