Anthony Lakin:

"We" have not done anything, as this is an independent help website. Nor will Freeview have done anything, nor Arqiva who maintain the transmitters.
Having said that there is no currently listed Planned Engineering for the Belper transmitter nor can I find any reported power or transmitter outages that might affect it.

IF it is the Belper transmitter that you normally receive your aerial is likely to be pointing roughly NNNW with its rods (or squashed Xs) vertical. I can't be any more precise as you haven't given a full postcode, although parts of Duffield will receive a good signal from Belper, Duffield is not shown as being technically in the official coverage area.

As there are no currently reported problems, If you are correctly tuned, check that your aerial seems intact and pointing in the correct direction with the rods (or squashed Xs) vertical and that your downlead looks undamaged and isn't flapping in the wind.

The correct UHF channels for Belper are C33, C48, C36 in the multiplex (groups of TV channels) order BBCA/PSB1, D3&4/PSB2, BBCB HD/PSB3.
See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which TV channels/stations are carried on which multiplex.

If you happened to retune when you had no or bad signal you may have inadvertently got tuned to another transmitter with weaker or variable signals, so check in your TV tuning section that you are tuned to the correct ones. Are your neighbours having the same problems?

How old is your aerial installation? If you've had the same one for over 6 years it's possible that it's an old Aerial Group C/D as the UHF channels now used by Belper since the 700MHz Clearance program are now Group K (Wideband will do) and the old aerial will not receive the new UHF channels as well. You would have been eligible for a free aerial upgrade at the time (early 2020) if your reception had been affected then.

Also check all you coax plugs, connections, flyleads etc, unplug connectors check for corrosion or other problems and reconnect them. Flyleads can be a common problem, try swapping them.
See what signal strengths (if any) and quality you are getting for the multiplexes (groups of channels) shown in your TV's tuning section, this might indicate potential issues with your aerial or downlead.
If you post the figures for each it may give us a clue.

Do you have a distribution amp/splitter and where is it located? If you have one, check that it still has power and check the connections to it.

If you've altered anything around in your installation, check that you don't have any HDMI leads close to any aerial or flyleads, especially if the aerial and flyleads aren't high quality double screened types. HDMI is known to sometimes cause interference.

All free TV channels in the UK

Andy:

First, an apology, when I replied to your previous post (which was on the Rowridge transmitter page!) I inadvertently misquoted the UHF channel for the Manchester Local mux which should have been C24. It's the GI Mux on C27 as mentioned. All the correct Winter Hill channels are as per a recent post of mine (again) on the Winter Hill transmitter page.

Now since you last post, there's been a "retune" event as Freeview have shifted a number of channel/programme LCNs in the EPG. Some of those you mention are in the correct place and some are not. It sounds like the tuning has got in a bit of a muddle (you wouldn't be the only one to have had issues with this retune event!).

I suggest you unplug your aerial and carry out a full automatic retuine - this should clear all existing tuning as nothing should be found.
Plug the aerial back in again and carry out another retune. Do it manually for Winter Hill's UHF channels if an automatic one gives you other transmitters. Hopefully this will restore everything correctly.

See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are carried on which multiplex.

If after that you still have issues, post back with details of which channels, also look in your TV tuning section for Signal Strength & Quality (or Error/BER) figures for each multiplex and post them as this may help identify some problems.

Michelangelo :

The BBC are still reporting Midhurst DAB as off-air :( You should also get the Commercial D1 and SDL multiplexes as well as a Local mux from Midhurst when it's back.
Re postcoded, understood, one for a very nearby Pub (or shop) If you have one! is often helpful.

If by "Freesky" you mean an older Sky box with a free-to-air viewing card, then perhaps you need to check that your dish (or cabling) hasn't moved in recent high winds. Also check all the connections to the box.

Is this using a Communal Aerial? When did this first happen?
Are your neighbours having the same problem?

Your locale might receive one of 4 transmitters, although the most likely is Winter Hill and the aerial would be pointing roughly WNW.
That said, there are no reported problems with any of the transmitters currently.
Did you try retuning at all, when you had no signal? If so, that will most likely have cleared the correct tuning, it's not advised to retune if you no or badly pixellated signals.

Check in your TV tuning section that you are correctly tuned to Winter Hill's UHF channels.
In the multiplex order BBCA/PSB1, D3&4/PSB2, BBCB HD/PSB3, SDN/COM4, ArqA/COM5, ArqB/COM6, COM7
Winter Hill UHF channels are -
The main multiplexes are C32, C34, C35, C29, C31, C37, C55
The Local ones are Local Manchester, Manchester GI on C24 & C27.

If you need to retune, it'll be best to do it manually for each of those UHF channels to ensure you don't get the wrong transmitter, BUT it'll be best to clear any previous tuning first, so unplug the aerial and do a full automatic retune, as nothing should be found, it ought to clear all previous tuning. Plug the aerial back in and manual tune the channels listed.

If you still have the problem, and this is a communal aerial, especially if your neighbours have the same problem, you'll need to get onto your building management to get them to check out the communal system.

FYI, see Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels/programmes are carried on which multiplex.

Steve Walkley:

To be clear it's not "our" TV service, this is an Independent free technical helpsite.

Firstly COM7, UHF C55 always has been a temporary mux and now that the 700MHz frequencies have been sold to MNOs, it's scheduled to close by the end of June 2022 under the terms of the current licence. C48 will be the top channel for UHF DTT.

2ndly the Ridge Hill transmitter is currently listed for Planned Engineering with "Possible Pixelation or flickering on some or all channels".

If your installation really needs an amplifier, I would hold onto the one you have as one that also includes the 700MHz frequencies could be more trouble than it's worth if a new 4G or 5G mobile mast operating in the 700MHz band sets up very near you.

Unfortunately not all the information above is 100% accurate as the site owner hasn't found time to update everything since the 700 MHz Clearance program.
Note, Ridge Hill's UHF channels are -
C28, C25, C22, C21, C24, C27, C55 for multiplexes BBCA/PSBs1, D3&4/PSB2, BBCB HD/PSB3, SDN/COM4, ArqA/COM5, ArqB/COM6, COM7.

See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are carried on which multiplex.
No information has been made available about what will happen to the channels currently on COM7.

FYI, your earlier posts did appear (now on the previous page) unfortunately posts sometimes take an inordinate amount of time to appear on this site, so it's best to wait several minutes before trying again. That error message also crops up from time to time and can often be ignored as the post will usually appear eventually.

Robert France:

Which BBC service as you missing, is it the SD channels or the HD ones?
Are you getting ITV/Ch4/Ch5 channels ok?

I can't find any faults listed for the transmitter, nor is it currently listed for Planned Engineering.
Have you checked the connections behind your TV and made sure the aerial is correctly plugged in?
It would be worth you looking at your aerial and making sure it looks intact - hasn't lost any bits in the recent wind, and that it's pointing due N with its rods (or squashed Xs) vertical.

If for some reason you lost signal, if you retuned whilst that was the case it may have just cleared the correct tuning.
Look in your TV tuning section and make sure you are tuned to UHF channels C42, C39 & C45 for the Combe Martin transmitter.

Victoria :

The BBC reported a fault a few days ago - From 5:12:14pm to 6:57:56pm on 18th Feb 2022 Off the air due to a fault (most likely due to a power cut affecting that area), but there doesn't appear to be any currently reported fault.

If you happened to retune when you had no signal (not advised) this will most likely have just cleared your correct tuning and you'd have to repeat a retune when signals are normal.

Are your neighbours having the same problem?
Otherwise, check that your aerial seems intact and pointing in the correct direction with the rods (or squashed Xs) vertical (for Kingsbridge) and that your downlead looks undamaged and isn't flapping in the wind.
