Below are all of Keith 's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.im wondering wether to run ct 100 from the dish right through the loft to the furtherest point i can join it to the wf63 which is where it starts to head down the wall to the lounge
i wouldn't have thought that wf63 would have lost this much signal - but talking to Bill Wright he says that it might be the receiver that cant cope with having such a slope from the muxes arriving at lower frequencies which work fine as 60db in theory should work - the vision amps have got slope equalisation on them so this might help to level the playing field

Thank you - why the hell didn't think of a Zone 2 dish - Ive got a load in stock so wouldn't be too difficult swapping that out - might just cure it - I really don't want to use line amps
do I go for a 2 minute simple fix and fit the amplifiers first as fitting the line amps would be an hour quicker - and end of day its not my fault !
or - replace the Zone 1 With zone 2 - re cable with ct 100 through the loft and join at the furthest possible point that I could
Thanks guys!

JB 34 - I always use Foam filled cable - not even seen air spaced in years (that I install) but still call it CT 100
yeah think your right - re cable through the loft and join to the WF 63 near where it drops down the wall
- I use WF 63 on standard sky dish installs as its so convenient - I have never noticed this amount of loss before but cant remember ever running it this far
its generally install the dish drop it down the wall and straight through to the receiver I bet most runs are less than 8-10 meters in wf 63
Any how - thanks for your guys help on this - always learning in this industry
I will let you know how I get on - got to figure out what day to go - school hols don't help!

Alan -- -Is it signal quality or Strength your looking at (common mistake) - the signal may be too strong - try attenuating the signal - Or like Mazbar said you could now be picking up from a transmitter out of your area
David -- Mazbar
Installed an aerial today where CH 22 was coming in strong even theough the aerial was at 90 Degrees to Belmont - a group B channel Band filter did an amazing job of filtering out Belmonts strong signal
Only problem now is when Billsadale ups its power as the aerial is pointing straight past Emley moor to Billsdale so looks like they will get Tyne Tees - worked out on this paticular set (sony) Billsdale BBC mux on CH 34 was at 28% of the tuning process so advised customer at switch over to hold the aerial out till 30% to bypass Billsdale as this transmitter doesn't switch until Sept 2012 so will remain a problem

You say you have been up to the attic and the aerial is on !
by this I assume you mean that you have an amplifier up there and there is a light on it
theres a few reasons that the aerial could have failed
first things first - ask your neighbours to see if any one has had similar experience at the same time as you - ie no signal
if so then its a localised occurrence
- if the neighbours are telling you that there tv's are working then its obviously a fault with your system and you need to narrow the fault down to where the problem lies
this can be difficult without the correct equipment though so you may have to bear with me the stages I would go through to establish a fault would be
1 - have a look at the aerial - look down the mast is there a box on it - if there isnt skip to next paragraph -the box could be various colours and the colour doesn't usually denote much as different manufacturers make different coloured boxes - if there is a box there it is more than likely a mast head amplifier - and the box in the attic with a light on is a power supply feeding the mast head amplifier - if this is the case you need to know if the power supply is outputting any power to the mast head amp - use a cheap multimeter to check the input of the power supply for 12 volts - if it is outputting powet then its probably the masthead amp thats failed - you need a professional in to replace it
2 disconnect the aerial cable from the amplifier look at teh colour of the braid it should be either bright copper or silver coloured if its Black this indicates water ingress while holding your hand out in front of the cable whip the aerial lead in front of your hand did any water come out - if so you need someone in possibly to replace A, the cable, B the cable and the aerial, C the aerial the cable and the amplifier depending on the amount of damage
3 if there is no obvious signs water if there is no box on the mast then the aerial probably comes direct into the amplifier
take a tv up into the attic disconnect the aerial at the amplifiers input and connect direct to the tv - is there a signal?- if yes the amplifier probably needs replacing - find an aerial shop in your local area that has a trade counter and see if they will sell you a replacement like for like amplifier try not to use the diy sheds etc as i tend to find they carry cheap crappy amps at increased prices a shop that is dedicated to aerials is far better and you could probably tap the guy on the counter for some advice
if you get nowhere im sorry but you need someone like my self in to establish fault I would charge £45-£55 to come out and fault find plus parts - and im sorry to say expect this to go up if they have to grab the ladders off and go on the roof - the reason for this is because of the risk they take working at height

If not Pete possibly we could look at your aerial - if you have a grainy analogue reception it might not be Just that your in a poor reception area the quality of cables and the integrity of your aerial may need looking at - im based in beighton - if after switchover your still struggling give me a call
Incidently Oughterbridge Transmitter will be classed as freeviw light and will not have the full channel allocation that emley moor and Sheffield will transmit - Have you considered having a freeSAT system installed with a Mini dish and either a freesat receiver or a freesat Recorder ?
