You can, it should be on logical programme number 102 if you have a Freesat receiver. If your not getting that then either your equipment has 'forgotten' that service or else has a problem. Start by trying a retune - but you may lose some recording settings.

Thomas Lord:
The most common cause of this type of problem is poor connections between the aerial and the TV set. A bad contact in a plug/socket is the likely cause. It tends to affect just one multiplex. So please check all your aerial connections by unplugging and refitting the connections. Then see if the reception of the BBC B multiplex.

Aldeburgh is a Freeview Lite transmitter and will not offer COM 7 or COM 8 channels so you will not get channel 81.
When the next round of channel adjustments comes around, the services currently on COM 7 and COM 8 are hoped to be transfered to other channels.

The channels for Winter Hill currently are: 50, 59, 54, 58, 49, 55, 31 and 37.
These are due to change on 7th March 2018, see Coverage Checker - Detailed View
Hope that helps doing the manual tune.

You need to check what your signal strengths are and to check all your aerial cables and connections. Strengths should be between 50% and 85% for SD services and between 60% and 85% for HD services. Anything less or more will cause the breakup you report.

Check all your aerial connections. I'm surprise that the 'engineer' didn't check those themselves and suggest a posible resolution.
The transmitter is not reported as having any problems, other peopke would be affected as well if it were. Worth checking if your neighbours have the same problems with Freeview.

The poster suggested she uses Roseneath and there are currently no reported problems nor works.
Any engineering work on a transmitter is normally for less than half a day - or even just and hour or so. That there was work several days ago is irrelevant to today's or yesterday's problems.

Please do not be abusive. The contributors to this independent web site are not employed by the site nor by any broadcaster - we contribute because of our altrustic interest in helping people having reception problems together with our knowledge of how such things work.
Some of us are experienced engineers or very competant amateurs. I used to work for a major TV rental company as a field service engineer at first and then became a senior Technical Trainer before I retired, so I have considerable experience of the transmission and reception of TV signals, both analogue and digital.

Looking at the predicted coverage maps (using Route /extras/404/prediction) failed, sorry. for both Crystal Palace and Hannington, your location is shown as not being covered by either transmitter. So it is highly unlikely that you will get anything useful with an indoor aerial. You will need at least an external aerial on the roof/chimney stack but you should consult a local aerial contractor who has good knowledge of signal reception in that area.
Alternatively, consider having a dish installed and buying a Freesat Set Top Box.

As you are some 16km away from the Bluebell Hill transmitter an indoor aerial will be useless, as you have discovered.
The best solution is to have an active splitter added into the cable from your existing loft aerial with a new feed added down to the kitchen. That will allow both TVs to receive from Bluebell Hill without needing another aerial (which could have planning consent requirements). A local aerial contractor would do this for you - at a price. It's not something that an inexperienced amateur should attempt unless they are certain they know what to do and have the necessary tools, equipment and knowledge.
