Please look at the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Coverage Checker - Detailed View which is for your location. Your options are either Crystal Palace or Guildford. The foprmer transmits all eight multiplexes whereas Guildford delivers the six main ones. Your will need a wideband aerail for either of these transmitters. The direction it should be aimed is given on the page mentioned.
By the way, you will not get anything from 'freeserve' as that was a commercial company that was closed many years ago. You actually mean Freeview, I suspect.

It was wrong to retune your Freeview box as now your= will have lost all the channels that were already correctly tuned.
Instead, check all the aerial cables and connections for any damage. Unplug all the coaxial plugs/sockets and refit them, corrosion/oxidation on the contacts is the most common cause of your type of problem. Then check that you can also receive other channels on the same multiplex, such as Quest.

Not without you giving a full post code so we can examine the transmitter information and your reception conditions.
Meantime, check all your awerial cables and connectiopns. Unplug and refit all coaxial plugs/sockets to clear any possible oxidation from them. DO NOT RETUNE.

It ois possible that the current warm/hot weather is causing atmospheric inversion problems. There is nothing you can do about the natural phenomenon. All you can do is to make sure that your aerail system and all the cables are in perfect condition. Also unplug and then refit all coaxial plugs/sockets to ensure there is no oxidationon the contacts.

Pete: The post code you have given does not register with the |Digital UK Coverage Checker. Perhaps it's a new code for a new build area and they may not have caught up with it yet. Perhaps you could find a post code for a local shop?
Coax cables should always be copper cored, the aluminium versions are poor to useless. You should always use new coaxial plugs on the cable ends and try not using any amplifier as they are often not needed unless you are a lon g way from a transmitter - but there are over 1,100 of them around the country.
Once we know what your nearby transmitter is then we could advise which channels you should tune your TV to.

5G is not intended to replace Freeview at all, they will be using a completely different part of the frequency spectrum. Freeview will use that beloew 700 MHz and 5G that above 700 MHz (with a few exceptions). Thus Freeview light will not be affected at all. The TV Licence does not depend on 5G of Freeview but whether you are watching any 'live' programmings from any broadcast source, that includes Freeview, Freesat, Sky, etc.

Before you do that check what channels are tuned in so you know which multiplexes are tuned to and that they are the correct ones for your best transmitter. Check that by putting your post code into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker and selecting the Detailed View option.
Also check what the reported signal strengths are for all the multiplexes, the ideal is between 60% and 85% (less or more in know to cause probklems with some equipments).

When they 'opgraded' the aerial, did they have a wideband aerial fitted? If not, why not. The 'old' Group A aerials are of little use for Crysrtal Palace now as it uses channels 55 and 56 for the COM7 and COM8 services.
