Below are all of Stephen Phillips's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.I'm confused by the reference to no COM8 from The Wrekin. I always thought it was a major "full service" tx. Does that mean that in LL14 5HD there are things I cannot get?

MikeP's advice is the best, but if an external aerial is a problem there are a couple of things you could try which might tip the balance.
One is to get your indoor aerial facing the Wrekin through a window - higher the better.
The other is an aerial amplifier. Not generally recommended with digital TV but might just tip the balance.

Hi Old lady friend living LL11 2LY having trouble with FM Reception of BBC Radio Wales. Is there anything that will show best frequencies there? AM perhaps instead?
Thanks

The sheer length and spread of that letter makes me realise how much the BBC needs pruning. If not coppiceing or pollarding.
What on earth is "Five live"?

I have been using an old sky box for ages but some months ago it stopped getting ITV1 due to changes.
I managed to find where they moved to and selected them as additional channels but it won't let me watch them without a card, which I have not got.
Am I missing a trick?

To Elaine Harrison My sky digibox is about that age. It works without a card but I think if I had one it might let me do more things. You don't need to do anything.

stephen p: Which ITV region are you trying to watch? ITV recently closed a number of SD regions, which are now only available in HD on satellite, leaving some of the larger regions still available in SD. None of them are encrypted, so you shouldn't need a viewing card for any of them.
Sorry - only just seen your reply. Sorry so late.
Box has an address in Wales and puts BBC Wales in 101 102
Do you know a channel for ITV1 that should work?
And can you explain something else? When there is a storm to the south I can lose channel 101 102 but I can still usually get BBC1 2 on 978 972. But surely they are what are set as 101 102?

I just noticed MikeP's comment (12 June) about the strength of the Crystal Palace Transmitter.
I used to own a house on Herne Hill - a couple of miles north and facing CP.
When I let it out a tenant asked where the TV aerial sockets were. This confused me as I did not know. On reflection, we did not have an aerial at all. Not even indoors. TVs just WORKED.
Post digital TV was more demanding. A screwdriver in the aerial socket was needed.
