I (think) I use the Belmont transmitter, I had great FV until about June 2011, Al Jazz, Russian news, Food etc etc, Then there was a retune and most of it disappeared. Then in November another retune, the channels came back into the list but there's not enough power to watch them. It's so frustrating you get no information from anywhere (while the FV balloons ad adds insult to injury). Do I need to turn the aerial? Or will FV eventually get its act together and make these channels available? Thanks

I'd like to have Sky News, Russian news, Al Jazz, Film4, Food, even the dumbo shopping channels back. I had them until the retune in summer, they came back in the listings on retuning in November. Today I retuned and they're l all gone again. Retuning seems to be the most destructive thing to do. I don't understand 9/10 of what you folk are talking about - I'd just like to know if these channels are coming a=back or if I have to do something else to get a decent tv service. (I wish the people behind the balloons ad a very miserable xmas!!!)

Des Collier: thanks for yours. I had a new aerial 3 or 4 years ago when I first got FV, (and FV worked wonderfully - it's only after all these retunes that everything went wrong, can't be the aerial at fault) no idea what group aerial is in or how to check. Just done a default something and a manual tune. Manual tune was useless, cut out ost everything. Re-did automatic tune and got back Sky News, Food etc. I get Food & SkyN signals from E Midlands as channels 49 and 82, 1,2,3,4 etc from Cambs&Beds and some stuff from E Yorks on channels 800+. I'm trying to work out whether to turn the aerial to E Mids which seems to have more power and more stations. And if I turn it, is FV going to mess it all up again in a few months' time?

@Greebo - hi n thanks. PE13 - I point at Belmont and had great recep on all stations inc Film4(so it's not the aerial at fault) until the retune in summer 2011 when lots of channels disappeared. I've been retuning and defaulting and faffing around ever since. I get some stations from E Yorks and mids, some from E Mids and some from Cambs n Beds. I seem to get best from E Mids (even there no Film4, but at least there's SkyNews and Food etc) and was contemplating turning the aerial. But if I do will FV muck it all up again in a few months' time?

@Dave Lindsay - thanks for yours. Before the summer retune I got lots of stuff SkyNews, Film4, Food, Russian News, Al Jaz etc. All disappeared. I've done default search, manual search etc. Manual was hopeless, just dropped even more channels. They come from all over. EG channel 4 is 4 from Cambs&Beds, 804 from E Yorks&Lincs and 805 from E Mids, but there's no signal from EMids. But 82 Sky News and 49 Food come only from E Mids. (No Film4 anywhere). I can't remember any more, it's all too confusing for a bear of small brain like me. And if I have the aerial turned to EMids, which seems the best source, will FV mess it all up again in a few months' time?

I don't care what the transmitter is called - I'd be happy to know when this lousy transmitter is going to provide a signal strong enough to receive more than the dreary old BBC junk. For a while I had great Freeview, then there was a retune and channels disappeared, then there was another retune and more channels disappeared. Since November many of them have been back, periodically, but in stuttering and pixillated form. Film 4? Food channel? That shopping channel on 22? Russian news? Al Jazz? I used to get all these before the hideous retunes. Are they ever coming back? (And on the subject of confusion, why do channels have 2 numbers eg 13 on the signal strength page is called channel 24 and also 13 - what's Joe Public supposed to make of that?)
