Lesley: Yes, please do! and maybe you could ask about Ch21 being seen, as that is the starting channel number seen when an auto-scan is about to take place, and not whats generally seen when checking signal strength via "manual tune" whilst actually viewing a channel, at least not from Crystal Palace nor Hannington anyway.

Richard Hawkins: Its not entirely impossible for your problem to be connected with the work that's going on at the transmitter site, although only time will tell.
If your TV's aerial input is being looped through the Humax then you could for a test try connecting the aerial directly into the TV thereby by passing the Humax, although 75% on the Humax is quite OK for a level as Humax boxes indications are more in line with what would be expected from a proper signal meter, Panasonics although having excellent tuners having the tendency to give rather over optimistic indications of strength / quality.
Just out of interest what model of Humax are you using?

martyh: Yes, but its not so much a combination of both devices that I would suggest that you concentrate on but making sure that the Logic is left permanently on 16:9 and then only making your ratio selections on the Philips, these being either 16:9 movie expand with or without subtitles, or alternatively just being left on automatic, as there isnt really any other adjustments that you can choose, unless that is you had previously selected "zoom" whilst on one of these modes but which had reverted to normal.
By the way I have the manuals for both these devices.

martyh: Also meant to add, that if nothing you do seems to resolve that issue then carry out "factory settings" on the Philips, as that guarantees that you are starting afresh and then you can take things from there.

Mrs L Parry: This can depend on where you reside (which isnt known!) and the level of signal that you normally receive, a post code or one from nearby (a shop) being necessary to check on this, as the level received when all is working OK might not be that terribly much above the minimum threshold level thats required to resolve a picture, and if the signal you receive passes over areas where trees are located then that can have a very bad effect on reception, and especially so if its raining as nothing blocks signals more than wet leaves.
If you come back with the info on location further advice can then be given once checks have been carried out on the levels expected wherever you are, as well as the transmitter being used.

david: Sky boxes revert to be being "free to view" devices once a subscription is cancelled, you can check what you will be able to view by removing a card from one of the boxes thats presently in use, as all the channels you can view after having done that will remain the same.
Sky cannot turn off a Sky boxes normal reception of anything other than subscription only channels, or if a Sky+ box the recording / playback side of the box.

David Jones: Is there any particular reason for you wanting Sky's "free to view" channels? because if you already have a dish installed providing twin input leads then you would be far better off purchasing a Freesat HD twin tuner recorder, as that should satisfy all your requirements without involving Sky.
Quite a few brands are available, although I personally rate Humax as being one of the best albeit a tad more expensive.

caroline: With your aerial connected directly into your box go into its installation menu / manual search and enter Ch23 into the box, then without pressing anything note if there is any indications of a signal showing on the strength / quality bar at the bottom, if not then change Ch23 to Ch52 and note if anything shows.
If still no success, then try and get a piece of ordinary wire of about 18" or so minimum and connect that into the inner part of the boxes aerial socket and try the same two tests again, giving an update on results.

Denise Hunter: In addition to whats been said by Dave Lindsay, ITV3 presently operates on Ch48 / 2Kw from Heathfield until the 27th when it moves to Ch42 / 20Kw.

martyh: Well there shouldn't really be any noticeable difference in the overall colour of the screen area when the set isn't switched on, although on some tubes including flat screen CRT types, the corners can appear to be slightly darker by a combination of the glass being thicker in this area as well as it turning inwards. i.e: not quite so much looking straight through the glass but slightly diagonally.
That said this would not affect the picture size any, and even although you might have set the TV's picture ratio to auto you have make sure that widescreen (or 16:9) has also been selected on the Logic as well, the selection being offered on "First time installation" under "TV type" using the <-> arrows.
Maybe you could have a check on that.
