Its unusual for someone to remove an "F" plug unless its been wrenched out, which if this has been done will pull the braiding slightly over the insulated part of the inner core.

Maureen Blower: "If" you are simply meaning that when you attempt to view channels you have already stored and they aren't there, then first of all carry out a "factory reset" before carrying out another auto-tune, as this problem is usually always caused by the box having picked up more channels than its memory is capable of storing.
By the way, a "factory re-set" is also called a "default setting" or "first time installation" on some boxes depending on the brand.

Adrian: Any TV or box that loses channels overnight is always usually because it has picked up more channels than its memory is capable of storing, the only way to get over the problem being to carry out a "factory re-set", sometimes called "default setting" or "first time installation" depending on the brand of equipment, this action being followed by carrying out another auto-scan.
The alternative way of achieving the same thing albeit not so guaranteed, is by the lengthy process of going through the complete channel list deleting duplicates of channels already stored as well as others not required, this obviously done on the same day as the re-scan had taken place.

Adrian: Just to add, that although I realise that difficulties have been experienced by a number of people after last nights switchover at Hannington, what I have said is based on you having stated that the problem has been experienced over a few months.

P Benatmane: Basically to get an idea of whats happening carry out a signal strength / quality check on the Humax PVR whilst everything is working normally, making a note of the indications seen, then assuming that you mean that the picture is freezing(?) carry out the same check noting what changes have taken place.
It would also have been of assistance to anyone offering advice if you had mentioned your location, (pref: post code) that is as well as the model of Freeview box and also the Humax PVR you are referring to.

Duncan Eves: I would really advise you to bide your time for just now but every now and again try to tune in Mux Ch45, as various problems with switchover have been experienced at the station and these are in the process of being rectified, needless to say that because its an unforeseen problem no time factor can be given as to when it will be sorted out.

Mick Turner: Taking it on face value, if what you are saying is simply that the magic eye lights up on one box and not the other and yet the RF2 power is turned on on both boxes, then its likely that the voltage regulator that supplies the power to the socket has failed.
This isnt exactly an unknown problem, but what can cause the supply to fail is if anything with a short circuit is connected into RF2 and is left running for a while.
A further point being, that does this also happen with the eye connected straight into the RF2 socket? as if a long co-ax is connected into the RF2 output this can affect some boxes and not others, the ones affected usually being the more recent types.

F Canfield: Thanks for clarifying that point, and as regards to the aerial as you are obviously in quite a good spot for reception (excluding your kitchen!) then the aerial mounted in the loft should be perfectly OK, that is provided its not facing into a water tank or that you don't have any form of roof insulation installed containing any form of metallic element mixed with the fibres.
These are just the usual qualifications associated with loft aerials, and although the log aerial seen in the link I provided is an excellent aerial of the smaller variety, you have said in a much earlier posting that the TV worked OK on the one already in the loft so you only really require to run an extra cable from it, and its output preferably fed into a two way powered splitter to provide an aerial point in each room, as this would guarantee that both points get the same level of signal.

Aerial Point: Just to confirm / back up Briantist's reply to your query insomuch that this is quite correct there isn't any list, and with so many variations in the menu facilities offered between the various brands (and sometimes across different models within) from basic primitive to quite sophisticated its not practical to make a note of them.
