Duncan: According to a field strength chart, Sutton Coldfield is indicated as the station covering the CV21 area, its BBC1 Mux being C43/ ITV1 being C46. The two channels mentioned i.e: Mux27 & Mux24 corresponding to Sandy Heaths BBC1 & ITV1.
By the way, Sutton Coldfield is located @ 28 miles on an "approximate" (full post code required) bearing of 305 degrees, Sandy being @ 47 miles on an (approx) bearing of 109 degrees, use this info to check the direction that your aerial is facing towards.

Mark Chadwick : You should also be aware that engineering work is presently being carried out at the Tacolneston transmitting station, a warning of "possible service interruptions" having been posted to this effect, the point being, if the retune you refer to has been carried out whilst the signal was down (or very low) this will have deleted everything stored in the tuner, a further auto-tune being required to load the channels back in.

Mark Chadwick : Also meant to say, if another auto-tune does not resolve the problem, it would be prudent to check with some other household located nearby for the purpose of ensuring that a signal is there to receive, as the engineering work referred to is of an ongoing nature, meaning that the signal could go down at any time during the day, and possibly on more than one occasion.
You should by the way, also carry out the checks mentioned by MikeB, this action being essential if its found out that your neighbours reception is OK.

Guy M: If you are referring to Channel 4 (104), then you should be able to receive this channel without any card being inserted in the box. Try disconnecting the box from the mains for about 30 seconds or so, removing the card before powering the box up again and allowing it to go through its usual "searching for listings" procedure.
If 104 is found to have returned, reinsert the card and check for any changes, the only thing that might have done being that the local news services appropriate to where you reside will have been reinstated, London being the default without any card being inserted.

chris: Provided that the coax cable goes directly to one of the ports on the dishes LNB, then there is no reason for not being able to receive all non subscription (free to view) channels, that is unless one of the following applies.
(1) The Sky box is defective, try it out by temporarily connecting it into one (any one) of the coax feeds used on your downstairs Sky HD box. If still no signal, then the most likely reason for this is that the boxes internal power unit has failed.
(2) If though the box is found to be operational, unscrew the "F" connectors at each end of the coax and check that all strands of the braiding has been pulled back onto the outer cover of the coax, and that one of the strands from has not accidentally got wrapped around the centre core of the coax.
(3) If all appears to be OK, try connecting the coax connector at the dish end into the spare port on the LNB, this said on the assumption that your dish is fitted with a quad (4 port) LNB.

Lesley: Your first course of action should really have been to ascertain if the problem was also being experienced by others in the apartment block? or that it was purely confined to your particular installation, as when a fault occurs in a communal aerial system it usually affects a large number of residents.
If though others are also being affected, then don't do anything else for the time being, as you have already carried out the maximum that's possible within your own property, i.e: tried a replacement jumper lead.
However, if possible, it would be advantageous if one of your neighbours would let you know when the signal returns, the reason for being that the signal will not return to your TV or box, as the retune you carried out whilst the signal was down will have deleted everything stored in its tuner, further re-tuning "whilst its known that the signal is there" being the only way of recovering same.
If on the other hand others report that the signal is still down, then the matter should be reported to the building maintenance department, as they are entirely responsible for rectifying the situation.

Rob: Two stations are indicated as being receivable in your area, the first being the Freeview light (PSB only) transmitter Mynydd Bach @ 1.8 miles / 137 degrees, aerial mounted on vertical polarisation (elements up / down) to suit the polarity of the transmission.
The second being the main station of Wenvoe @ 13 miles on a bearing of 190 degrees, the aerial in this case having to be mounted horizontally.

Rob: Further to that said, the information given was from DUK's trade reception predictor, however a subsequent terrain check carried out using the info provided reveals two separate obstructions to the signal path from Wenvoe with the first being @ 6.5 miles, the second being a somewhat sizable obstruction stretching from approximately 3.5 miles out down to 1.5 miles prior to your area.
Although the latter mentioned does not look to be too promising as far as reliable reception is concerned, there is nothing to stop you trying it, if though it transpires to be a failure, then you have no option other than to use the Mynydd Bach Freeview "Light" transmitter.

js: Re: Gems TV. Rescanned one of my Freesat HD boxes using BT1 1LT as the post code, the result being, that although having punched LCN805 into the remote, the LCN number on the screen appeared as LCN802, in other words, the box did not accept LCN805 as being operational.
By the way, the programme channel was indeed Gems TV.

John Brown: Small after thought, before doing anything, try wiggling the aerial connector that's plugged into the TV whilst on one of the problem channels.
