Martin: The answer is moving!, although this action is not necessarily guaranteed to resolve the problem if you happen to reside at ground floor level.
Another aspect to take into consideration is whether or not the trains you refer to are of the electric powered variety fed by an overhead line conductor, because if they are?, then your problem could possibly be caused by interference from sparking between the trains pantograph and the 25Kv overhead power line, although should this apply, then fitting a high pass filter in line with the aerial input socket "might" help the problem.

Pete: Difficult to say why you experienced a problem recording Yesterday (163), that is except for the possibility of some form of glitch having occurred whilst you were setting the box to record same, as no problems whatsoever were experienced on a test carried out on my own Freesat PVR, the test in question being both of the pre-set auto (programme guide) variety as well as an instant record.

Maria corcoran : No quite sure as to exactly what you are meaning, but try connecting your magic eye directly into your Sky boxes RF2 output socket, if the red light fails to illuminate then make sure that RF2's power is switched on as per instructions shown at the top of this page.
If though the magic eye does illuminate when connected directly into the RF2 output socket, then your problem has to be caused by the coax from said socket passing through some device that is killing the DC voltage that operates the magic eye, anything in line (if not of a continuous nature) having to be "Sky magic eye compatible".

RON WILLIAMS: BBC South is broadcast by four different stations, and as such the frequency of the Mux channel its received from is totally dependant on the station that covers the area you happen to reside, which of course you haven't mentioned!, however, undermentioned is the Mux channel number used by each of the four in question.
Midhurst - C55 / Salisbury - C57 / Hannington - C45 / Rowridge - C24.

RON WILLIAMS : In addition to previous reply. It should also be noted that these four stations mentioned are all in the category of being "main stations", but though in order to provide better coverage in areas not adequately served by these stations there are also approximately 34 relays dotted around the area.
You can easily find out which station covers your area by opening the undermentioned link for DUK's reception predictor followed by entering your post code into same, not forgetting to check the box for "detailed view", the channel number required "N" being under BBC A. That said is on the assumption that you actually reside in a BBC South coverage area?

John Mackay: No, as Sky disables the viewing cards ability to allow you access to the recording and playback side of the box as well as the viewing of package channels at time of cancelling the subscription.

Jenny: As no faults are listed against the Sudbury transmitter nor is any engineering work taking place at same, the problem is likely down to a fault having developed in your aerial system, start by checking the jumper lead connected into your TV's aerial socket.
If by any chance you are connected into a shared aerial system? it would be prudent to enquire if others are also experiencing similar problems with reception.

Ed: As the signal path from the Tacolneston transmitter suffers from a sizeable line-of-sight obstruction starting from just over three miles away from your location, then I wouldn't hesitate in using an aerial of the log periodic variety for reception, the one in question (the Raptor) performing much the same as any of the other brands, that is with the exception of this particular model having protection from being affected by any possible 4G transmissions that may exist in the area its being used in.
I suppose that you have clicked on the "digitaluk trade" box under your posting and witnessed the somewhat dire prediction for reception from the Tacolnestion transmitter in your area? signals received via line-of-sight obstructions generally suffering from slight fluctuations in the angle they are received at, this being why its inadvisable to use any aerial of a Yagi high gain/narrow pick up angle in these type of situations, log periodic's being more stable by them having a wider signal acceptance angle.

fozzy: Winter Hill is presently listed on the planned engineering notice board warning of a possible weak signal, this being the most likely reason for your problem.

michael macneil: Your problem is due to engineering work which is presently in progress at the Skriaig (Skye) transmitter, a notice warning of "Possible service interruptions" having been posted in the "Planned engineering work" page and which affects all relays in the chain from same, these being Clettravel - Daliburgh - then in your case Kilbride.
