Below are all of Mark Fletcher's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Jonathan Ashenden,Southampton.Yer first loft aerial you described as a "knackered old thing" giving perfect reception in yer living room,is it coloured red at the tip,if so its a group A aerial and as Rowridge mast is currently and remaining a group A transmitter as such only group A aerials, never a group W wideband aerial should ever be fitted on a group A transmitter in poor reception or marginal areas within Rowridge itself.Which nicely comes to the point you mentioned about yer second loft aerial, which appears what you stated to be a newish X-Beam type aerial is it coloured black at the tip, then that will be a group W wideband aerial as such, and the wrong aerial come to that for a group A mast like Rowridge in a poor/marginal area. You do not need a group W wideband aerial as such on Rowridge, but only group A aerials.Look up the ATV (Aerials and Television) of Sheffield website, you will find that a group A Yagi 18A aerial,X-Beam XB16A for outdoor mounts or an X-Beam XB10A for loft mounts are recommended options in your locality.

Re:Dave Lindsay and Ian W.Thanks for both your texts and it is possible that a few nearby relays at my location (Halifax HX2 9JY house no 3) such as Luddenden,Walsden,Keighley,Trawden and Norden which uses frequencies 53 & 60 could be causing a single frequency interference issue in relation to receiving Belmont's ArqA fr 53 & ArqB fr 60 in my locality.Never mind i still use Belmont's mux's BBCA fr 22,D3+4 fr 25,SDN fr 30 as well as Emley Moor's mux's ArqA fr 52,ArqB fr 48 with my trusty indoor set-top wideband aerial without the amplifier this time.Just out of interest although my set-top box is non-HD,despite the signal quality being 0% understandedly, the signal strength of Belmont BBCB (HD) mux fr 28 is 71%,which basically implies if i had a Freeview HD set-top box there is a good chance of receiving Belmont's BBCB (HD) broadcasts in my locality instead of nearby Emley Moor.

Sorry i forgot. What i was implying in my final words of my previous text, was that instead of using Emley Moor's BBCB (HD) mux on fr 41 if i had a Freeview HD set-top box, which is easily available in my location,i may prefer to have used Belmont's BBCB (HD) mux on fr 28 instead which i believe there is a good likelyhood of also receiving this as such in my location !

Sarah KK,Richmond.Yes you do need an outdoor aerial as such to receive stable freeview reception.Hard to say without a full postcode but if you are on the Crystal Palace mast then if you reside within a poor/marginal reception area within as such then you will require a group A Yagi 18A or group A X-Beam XB16A antenna as such, but if you reside with a good/medium reception area within Crystal Palace itself a Log Periodic which is a group W wideband antenna can be used. However do not use group W wideband aerials on an all group A transmitter such as Crystal Palace within its marginal/poor reception boundaries itself.

John Ledbury. If you dont care what the transmitter is called and you go on stating when this lousy transmitter is going to provide a signal strong enough to receive more than the dreary old BBC junk in your own text, the answer is why should we bother to assist ya as such !

Esther,NP13.If yer aerial is polarised vertically and receiving Blaenau Gwent relay transmissions the answer is no,as Channel 5 +1 is on SDN Com 4 multiplex from either a main transmitter or major relay, and Blaenau Gwent relay only broadcasts the three PSB multiplexes BBCA,D3+4 & BBCB (HD).

Heather Lord,Lytham St Annes.Hard to say without a full postcode. Are you sure yer receiving Winter Hill transmissions, and not those from Moel-Y-Parc mast itself,as the Fylde coast can receive Moel-Y-Parc transmissions too.If ya receive BBC1 Wales on the BBCA mux on fr 45 instead of Winter Hill's BBCA (includes BBC1 North West) on fr 62,as well as ITV1 Wales and S4C on the D3+4 mux on fr 49 instead of Winter Hill's D3+4 (includes ITV1 Granada and Channel 4) mux on fr 59 then there is a likelyhood you will be picking up stray signals from Moel-Y-Parc at over 90 degrees right of where your aerial is positioned at Winter Hill.Perform as Dave Lindsay suggests or if you can manual scan,BBCB (HD) fr 54,ArqB fr 55,SDN fr 58,D3+4 fr 59,ArqA fr 61,BBCA fr 62 are all Winter Hill multiplexes.

btb77.Rothley,Leicestershire.Waltham is now broacasting at its final power levels,50kw for the PSB mux's BBCA,D3+4 & BBCB (HD),and 25kw for the COM mux's SDN,ArqA & ArqB.From what i am made aware there are no further power increases at Waltham mast !
