Hunny,London. You must be suffering with too much signal, try a set-top aerial or a piece of wire or even a coathanger and se if that makes any difference. Also did you actually try a Freeview reset procedure prior to your several retunes beforehand that you stated ?

Esme Read,DT3 5AT.Definitely not from the three nearby vertically polarised relays of Weymouth,Preston and Bincombe Hill within your location as they're all freeview lite transmitters only broadcasting public service multiplexes BBCA,D3+4 and BBCB (HD),not the commercial multiplexes ArqA,ArqB and the SDN multiplex which carries the ITV3 channel.
To receive the full package you may have to either direct your aerial polarised horizontally to the main Stockland Hill transmitter or if possible at Rowridge, here preferably polarised vertically as the commercial multiplexes on that mast broadcasts at 200kw on vertical polarity, but only on 50kw (commercial multiplexes only) on horizontal polarisation.
Either Stockland Hill or Rowridge masts are both all group A transmitters and if you did decide to opt for the full package from one of the above, you will need a group A aerial, either a Yagi 18A or for slightly more gain a X-Beam 16A antenna.

RT.Too much signal appears the likely cause.Try using a set-top aerial or a piece of wire or coathanger and see if either these methods alleviate the symptoms.Or fit an attenuator if excess signal is the cause.
