Below are all of Mark Fletcher's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Chris Davies.Yes should be the answer to your question, but come 2020 if the plan to clear the 700mhz frequencies does take effect then the COM multiplexes on Sandy Heath either within group B or group C/D frequencies will have to relocate elsewhere. As the 2020 scenario is not yet known for Sandy Heath main transmitter (see above this page) there is a likelyhood that Sandy Heath may revert back to an all group A or possibly a group K mast,so the possibility of changing group W wideband aerials to group A aerials once again come 2020 if the 700mhz band is cleared and Sandy Heath were to revert to an all group A mast once more will cause grief and consternation come that time. But then again Sandy Heath may instead become a semi-wideband group K transmitter by then, and a good quality group K aerial (grey tipped) even working right down to frequency 55 (for either Yagi 18K or X-Beam 16K in poor/marginal areas is the new future proof wideband aerial that has a higher gain on group A frequencies than the group W widebands, though group A aerials have higher gain than group K aerials, and even higher still than group W widebands.

GC.Sidcup,DA15 7DN.Is your aerial polarised either horizontally facing either Crystal Palace or Bluebell Hill main transmitter,or vertically facing Woolwich relay. If you know which transmitter/relay you are using you may have to input the affected frequencies via manual scanning,or resetting your TV via unplugging aerial then performing auto scan which will find zero channels as such yet clears your TV's previous memory, then replugging aerial back into your TV and this time performing manual scan.

Pippo,SW2.A full postcode preferably not a partial one is more beneficial to ascertain the reception possibilities in your location as such.

Jan Gibson,Chelmsford. If your aerial is 40 years old dating back from 1971/2 and is coloured yellow at its tips, denoting a group B aerial then yes the aerial plus the co-ax cable and co-ax plug all need replacing.
A replacement group E Yagi 18E semi-wideband aerial coloured brown at its tips, plus new superior copper-copper black coloured co-ax cable and new brass co-ax aerial plug will vastly improve both your reception and viewing as such.

Michael.A full postcode preferably is required to ascertain the reception possibilities in your location.
One indicator to your predicament if you are using Crystal Palace main mast is the Transmitter Engineering text immediately above your text dated Monday 2 July 2012,10.28am.

Dave Atkins.Holsworthy,EX22 6JB.As Caradon Hill is an all group A transmitter located almost 20 miles from your abode to mast, your best bet is to go for a group A (red tipped) aerial or a group K (grey tipped) semi-wideband aerial but only if you decide not to persue the group A aerial itself.
However a group W wideband aerial (tipped black) on the other hand is by and large rather useless on an all group A mast such as Caradon Hill in a poor/marginal reception area.If you decide to buy a new group A (preferred) or group K aerial (as a last resort),then simultaneously buy new superior copper-copper black coloured (sometimes darkest navy blue it appears) co-ax cable, and importantly new brass co-ax aerial plugs, not alloy or worse plastic plugs as they're useless.
I would strongly look up the ATV Aerials and Television of Sheffield website for proper advice in buying new aerial and accessories and belive me they are the No1 in my honest opinion in the UK today.Forget the rest ATV of Sheffield are the best.
