Mary Owen. The reason the full postcode was requested was to ascertain the reception possibilities in your area as you did not provide one initially or a nearby location as such.Seeing as you have now mentioned Sky and is all ok now,i hope your reception as improved as such.Perhaps the next time your reception on whatever format you have plays up and you fail to provide either full postcode or your locality, then dont expect me or anybody else on here to give valuable advice and help to you as such.
JB38 Many thanks for backing me up there, its amazing that a minority on here dont appreciate advice and help given to them, sometimes i wonder why i should bother !

Malcolm Butler.First of all i would consider repolarising your aerial from horizontal to vertical to counteract any single frequency interference issue that arises from Crystal Palace main transmitter which uses some exactly same multiplexes as that of Rowridge especially the COM multiplexes SDN,ArqA and ArqB all above are co-channel on frequencies 25,22 and 28 from both main masts.
Also while switching polarity check the tip of the aerial is red which denotes a group A aerial and the right aerial to use on all group A Rowridge transmitter especially in a poor/marginal signal area.

Malcolm Butler.Im not a fully qualified professional i may add,im just an amateur with some knowledge of most things but i will endeavour to answer the questions you delivered to me in your last text.
It could be one possibility in the first question you raised about the dropout of all channels after 9pm onwards but ok the next morning during clear skies,if your aerial facing Rowridge from your abode which crosses the sea over Poole Bay/English Channel due to local atmospherics or inversion effect could be disturbing your reception during the late night/early hours period,or whether your aerial is black tipped a group W wideband aerial which performs poorly on a all group A mast like Rowridge in a poor/marginal area.
Your second question is a tricky one but you could try Ofcom.
Your third question is are there any obstacles from aerial to mast such as trees, buildings, etc,do you live on high or low ground or in between.
Your fourth and last question probably falls at the hands of any UK/worldwide governments as they orchestrated the switching off of analogue TV and the switch on of all digital TV,this process is happening worldwide, and there's analogue radio coming up due for total switch off in tens or twenty years time.
If you provide your full postcode preferably this is to ascertain reception likelyhoods in your locality, then myself and others more so the true pros on here will equip you with more fuller advice and assistance to you as such.

Dave Parker.Cheers,im already preparing for the BBC2 analogue switch off from Bilsdale on the other TV opposite another TV with my digital set top box in my bedroom. What i will do after BBC2 analogue is forever switched off around 12.20am (0020 hours) once the programme "China on Four Wheels" ends (but this is not guaranteed at all,it could be switched off (analogue BBC2) just after half way (after midnight)),is to switch the borrowed group W wideband aerial planted already in a sweet spot in my bedroom, plug out from the analogue TV and plug in to the set top box on top of my other analogue TV opposite, while temporarily replacing my separate set-top aerial into the analogue TV socket of the TV without the set top box. Then it is a case of wait and see if BBCA on 100kw on frequency 26 the old BBC2 analogue frequency is attainable in my locality for which i may/not require a signal booster/amplifier as such.I will conduct these tests as such as well as assisting others out on this forum simultaneously and i hope to be up until 2am-3am period i have too.All the best to you as well David you never know you may have a better chance than me,good luck !

Bilsdale (North Yorkshire, England) Full Freeview transmitterTuesday 11 September 2012 3:31PM

Ian Taylor,Middlesborough. One indicator as far as DSO1 is concerned is the programme "China on Four Wheels" tonight on BBC2 starting around 11.20pm and finishing around 12.20am one hour later in the early hours of tomorrow morning. If you were watching this on BBC2 analogue there is a 50/50 chance that once this programme ends probably one minute later, the BBC2 analogue signal will suddenly disappear,or it may suddenly switch off after the programme passes half way around 12.01am.It just depends,a case of wait and see,but one indicator before the BBC2 analogue signal disappears for good is a gradual or sudden deterioration of the BBC2 analogue signal prior to sudden switch off. After the BBC2 analogue signal is switched off permanently it could be as early as 15 minutes later when the new 100kw high powered post-digital BBCA multiplex on frequency 26 vacated by the old BBC2 analogue comes on air dependent on everything running smoothly,if not then much later even up to 6am from the main Bilsdale transmitter itself.
My advice keep watching, blink and you will miss it !

Steve,Chester Le Street.I would ask your landlord/landlady to check the communal aerial if that is at fault.
