ktm: simple answer for everything to work right is no. You say you have another sky box elsewhere so you are either using 3 or 4 points being used so either take the cables out of the box you aren't using or have the lnb changed to an octi with 8 outputs and have the extra cables run to the other box.

Simon Firth: a building with lots of steel can do two things it can seem to absorb the signal I have seen big container ships remove the signal from aerials even though they have no direct line of between the aerial ship or transmitter. the other thing I have seen is signal reflecting off the metal causing problems in random areas. you could do with the signal being checked hope this helps.

Dave Lindsay: simple answer is no any f plug used outside should always be in a weather prof housing. Lnb should have a waterproof pull down if not use self rubberising tape. Splitters or mastheads should only be external type not internal splitters with tape on them. You shouldn't use f couplers outside better to replace the whole coax if possible . Some riggers don't do this the worst I have ever seen was a 4 way compact amp with roof felt warped around it to weatherproof if the only water it kept of was my tears of laughter/ sorrow when I saw such a poor attempt
