Kevin Connor: Transmitters don't reduce their power output (except during engineering work and there hasn't been any recently at the Whalley transmitter) so you need to look for a problem with your own aerial system. Start behind the TV and check for any loose or damaged cables or connections, then work your way back towards the aerial as far as you can safely access.

Talking Pictures TV
Friday 19 May 2017 4:25PM

phil: If you mean that you have a Humax DVB-T2 box then you have a suitable receiver and should be able to receive Talking Pictures from Belmont with your existing aerial, however the COM7 multiplex which carries Talking Pictures is broadcast at much lower power than the main PSB and commercial channels. If you provide a full postcode we can see what reception should be like at your location and offer more specific advice.

Alex Esdale: Can you get 4Music on 18? Both are broadcast on the same multiplex, so if you can receive one but not the other you have an issue with corrupted tuning data, which can generally be solved by unplugging the aerial and retuning to clear the channel list, then reconnect the aerial and retune again which should restore all of your channels. Be sure to make a note of any future recordings as the retune process is known to delete them on many receivers.

Map of all DAB transmitters
Saturday 20 May 2017 8:53PM

SARAH BOZWARD: Radio stations are often broadcast from different transmitters to TV channels and are at lower frequencies which allow both analogue (FM/AM) and digital radio (DAB) signals to travel further and are better at passing over natural obstacles such as hills and mountains. TV broadcasts use higher frequencies which are not so good at overcoming hilly and mountainous terrain, so simply increasing the broadcast power won't automatically increase the coverage area. It would also cost a lot more to run the transmitters if they run at higher power, which doesn't make much economic sense if it only serves a few extra people.

david carter: Please provide a full postcode so we can see predicted reception for your exact location. Also, have you checked all the cables and connections behind the TV? A loose or damaged cable or connector often turns out to be the cause of problems such as this.
