If moving something causes you to loose signal then you have problem with your aerial system, such as a loose cable, bad connection somewhere or the aerial itself could have been damaged over the many years it has likely been in place, or you are trying to use an unsuitable indoor aerial in a location that doesn't have a strong signal. You aren't going to be able to take someone to court because of a problem with your aerial system or cabling.

Rachel brunsdon: Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Please provide a full postcode so we can see your predicted signal strength and where you are in relation to the transmitter etc.

Veronica Steffen: Please provide a full postcode so that we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and what your predicted signal strength should be. Without knowing that we can only offer general advice such as checking for any loose or damaged cables or connections.

HIlary Woodward: Did you read or act on any of the replies to your previous post a year ago? No one else is reporting any problems with the transmitter so you need to look for a fault in your aerial system. Complaining about it online won't do anything to fix the problem if you don't act on the advice given.

Beverley Wallis : There are no faults showing for the transmitter so someone needs to check your mother's aerial system. It could be a simple as a loose connection or a damaged cable behind the TV.
P.S. It's never a good idea to post your phone number online, no one here needs to know it and no one from an unofficial technical help website is going to call you, but cold callers could easily add it to their lists etc.

Simon Sheppard: Because the BBC don't have capacity to add all their local radio stations to every area, when relatively few people outside of the station's area will be interested in listening. You can listen to any BBC local radio station online via BBC - iPlayer Radio - All Stations or via the BBC iPlayer Radio app on a smart phone or tablet.

Mr. R Baylis: According to Digital UK, the only frequency changes taking place at Ridge Hill are that COM7 & COM8 will move to UHF 55 & 56 on 1st March 2018. On the same day, the PSB3West mux (carrying ITV Westcountry West only) will reduce in transmission power to 2Kw and change transmission mode to QPSK in order to make the signal more robust. All other muxes remain on their current allocations.

RayB: If you are seeing a signal strength of 100% then you are likely suffering with signal overload (the tuner is being deafened due to being shouted at). Search for the article "Too much of a good thing" on this website.

Mr. R Baylis: I believe the entries for 2018 onwards on the diagram above are based on which frequencies have international clearance for the transmitter after the 700MHz clearance is completed. Your Labgear LAB450T aerial is wide band so won't need to be replaced. Hardly anyone using Ridge Hill will need to replace their aerial unless they are using a group A aerial and loose COM7 & COM8 due to weak signal (many will have fitted a wide band aerial in order to receive Freeview prior to digital switchover).

Alice Stevenson: Scotland's cities (where most of the country's population live) have almost exactly the same channels available on Freeview that you have in Kent (these channels are broadcast from 80 transmitter which cover around 90% of UK households). The channels which are not available at your sister's location are operated by commercial broadcasters who do not think it is viable to broadcast their channels from smaller transmitters that cover relatively few homes. This is the reality of commercial broadcasting and has nothing to do with anyone being treated as second class citizens and doesn't affect anywhere close to half the country. Nearly all of the same channels are available free to air on satellite for the one off cost of a Freesat box, dish and cabling (if not already present) with no ongoing subscription cost. No one is pushed into paying for Sky or cable, it is down to individual households if they wish to pay for additional subscription channels, no one has to pay to get the channels available on Freeview (other than the TV Licence).
