Tony Morrissey: All of the channels you mentioned have been present for a few years, they certainly haven't been added recently. Loss/breakup of signal cannot be cause by having too many channels on the same multiplex. The most likely explanation is that there is some piece of electrical equipment (could be in your own home or a near neighbour) which is operating during the daytime and causing interference.

Nick Anderson: ITV are a commercial broadcaster and will only make their channels available on cable if they can reach a commercial agreement which both parties are happy with. Only the main ITV channel has PSB status requiring it to be carried by cable operators, this does not apply to any of ITV's sister channels. Although given that this website is about free to air television and there are no free to air channels on cable (viewers are required to take a paid subscription to receive any channels) this doesn't seem like the most appropriate place for this debate.

Jackie: The transmitter does not get switched off overnight, none of them do. What you are seeing is most likely the effect of electrical interference from something operating on a timer (could be in your own home or a near neighbour).

Graham Thompson: There are no reported problems or engineering work at either the Norwich Central or Tacolneston transmitters (both are predicted to be available at your postcode). Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV?

Brian Carter: Please provide a full postcode so that we can see which transmitter you're using, where you are in relation to it and your predicted coverage etc. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Retuning will never fix a weak signal as all you are doing is deleting all of your channels and searching for them again.

Martin Ellis: The most likely explanation is that you're using an older grouped aerial which was not designed to receive the lower frequencies now being used by COM4-6 at Sudbury. If you don't have satellite or cable you should be entitled to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

Raymond Taylor: Bluebell Hill underwent frequency changes on 19th July. PSB1 can now be found on UHF channel 32 with PSB2 on 34.
