Sarah Lower: True Entertainment and True Movies have moved to the local TV multiplex, so if you can receive one of the local TV channels on 7 or 8 then you should be able to get the channels back by retuning.

Sharon L: As per my post above yours, True Entertainment and True Movies have moved to the local TV mux which is not broadcast anywhere in Cornwall. Caradon Hill is not an obsolete transmitter, it is a main transmitting station covering large areas of Devon and Cornwall. The only multiplexes which have been removed are the temporary COM7 & COM8 services, which were previously available from 30 main transmitters covering around 75% of UK households, this will reduce by early next year to 25 transmitters before closing completely in a couple of years or so. Caradon Hill still broadcasts the main 6 multiplexes (PSB1/2/3 and COM4/5/6) which are available to 90% of UK households and will continue to do so for many years to come. You can complain to Ofcom, the broadcasters or whomever you like but there won't be any further multiplexes added to any main transmitter.

Tricia Whinfird: True Entertainment and True Movies have moved to the local TV multiplex, using spare capacity in areas where a local TV channels is broadcast. This is a decision taken by the broadcaster (Sony own the True family of channels). If you can receive a local TV station on channel 7 or 8 then retuning should restore the missing channels.

Reginald Mills: Keep It Country has closed on Freeview and can therefore no longer be received via an aerial. Spotlight TV (which is taking over from Keep It Country on satellite and cable) is due to become available as a streamed channel which uses your internet connection on a compatible connected TV from next week.

SS: Have you even received any of the HD channels on your bedroom TV? The channels you refer to are all broadcast on DVB-T2 multiplexes which need a TV or set top box/PVR which is capable of receiving HD channels. Most DVB-T2 TVs/boxes are labelled Freeview HD (ignore any references to "HD Ready" or "Full HD" as that is only referring to the resolution of the screen panel and not the tuner).

Virginia Moore: None of those channels are broadcast from the Darwen relay. She might be able to get those channels from the main Winter Hill transmitter once frequency changes have been completed there early next year, however a new professionally installed rooftop aerial will likely be required (not one of the cheap useless amplified indoor aerials).

Linora Bennet: Retuning is never a good idea if you suddenly loose signal as you've now deleted most of your channels which were previously correctly tuned. If it happens every summer then you are probably experiencing the effects of signal lift, where the hot weather causes signals to travel further than normal which causes signals from distant transmitters to interfere with the signals from the transmitter you are trying to receive. This is an entirely natural phenomenon which has been understood by scientists and broadcast engineers since UHF TV began in the 1960s.
