David: Quest recently moved to the COM6 multiplex (it was previously on COM4), so try a manual tune on UHF channel 35.

Chris.SE: Isn't a Group K log periodic the same as a wideband log periodic but with some of the elements removed?

Richard: All of the BBC One regions will launch in HD on satellite between January and March and on Freeview by the end of May. They are already in HD on Virgin Media cable and Sky Glass/Stream.

bruce tearle: Quest moved from COM4 to COM6 recently. The old version which was temporarily moved to 790 to give viewers time to retune now appears to have been removed.

David Harris : You'll probably find that you have access to all the same content in ITV Hub, it just hasn't been updated with the new logo and branding yet.

Robert : If the BBC took advertising it would destroy the commercial broadcasting market taking lots of smaller broadcasters out of business and even risking ITV loosing much of it's advertising income. There is no viable way of replacing the licence fee with a subscription service without the BBC going online only, which leave millions of people currently watching on non-smart TVs that don't have iPlayer unable to watch any BBC programmes, not to mention the millions of older people who watch the BBC but are not confident using streaming services (a problem which will naturally reduce over time). That would certainly make a lot of difference to a lot of people, most of them probably ending up worse off.

Dennis Kay: Give that terrestrial TV are likely to be closed completely within the next 15 years, it's very unlikely that any new relays will be built to provide viewers with a different region. All BBC regions are available on satellite or via iPlayer if you want to watch news from a different region to the one you receive.

4wd: There is a website dedicated to Project Restore and the building of the replacement tower. It's supposed to be completed around the middle of next year I believe. There was a help scheme for viewers who couldn't get a signal from any of the temporary transmitters, although I'm not sure whether that is still going given the time elapsed since the fire.

Roy Taylor: Caldbeck is a main transmitter broadcasting to over 100,000 households and you're the only one reporting a problem. That makes it far more likely that the problem is something at your end (i.e. a fault or loose connection in your aerial system somewhere) or local interference. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Have you had a postcard from Restore TV or seen any new or upgraded mobile phone masts nearby? The 700MHz frequency band previously used for TV services is now being widely used by the mobile networks and can sometimes cause interference - if this is the case you can obtain a free filter which connects between your aerial and TV to block out the unwanted frequencies (see the website below). If you provide a full postcode we can check the predicted reception at your location and may be able to offer further advice.

Robert : UKTV is a completely separate operation and the profits it generates allows the BBC to do more than they could with just the licence fee. The BBC will never be allowed to take advertising on their own channels as the rest of the broadcast industry are opposed to it and will lobby the government and Ofcom to prevent it happening.
