The most likely explanation for your degrading reception is that something is wrong with your aerial system, such as a loose connection or water has gotten in to the cables. Start at the back of the TV and check all cables and connections are in securely and that there are no signs of damage, then work your way back as far as you can safely access towards the aerial.

CEK: RG5 covers a wide area, please provide a full postcode. Are you able to receive HD channels 101-105 on your TV? Talking pictures can only be received via Freeview on TVs or boxes that can receive HD channels.

Laurie Fergusson: Have you got the headphones plugged in? Most pocket radios use the headphone lead as the aerial. Please provide a postcode so we can see which DAB services should be available at your location and where you are in relation to the transmitters that broadcast those services.

Ken Parker: Talking Pictures isn't broadcast from Stockland Hill. It won't be added whilst it remains on COM7 but only the broadcast can answer as to whether it will ever move the channel to another multiplex with wider coverage from more transmitters.

susan: Signal strength is predicted to the strong for Pontop Pike at that postcode, so assuming there is no aerial on the roof or in the loft it would be worth trying an indoor aerial. The best type to get are ones that look like a smaller version of the aerials you see on rooftops, rather than the loop type ones (which are just a piece of wire sticking out of an amplifier).

Martin Rosen: There are no faults showing for Crystal Palace. Have you enquired with any of your neighbours if they are experiencing the same problem on the same communal aerial. If that is the case, you should contact whoever is responsible for the communal aerial system and ask them to investigate.

Martin Moody: According to the post above yours, Crieff was off air for several hours last weekend although there are not notices of any work/outages since then. According to the DigitalUK prediction for your postcode there are also weaker signals present from the Black Hill transmitter so check you haven't ended up tuned to those frequencies by mistake. Also make sure you check for any loose or damaged cables behind the TV, as that is the most common cause of reception problems.

steve wilkins: Yes, you need either a TV or set top box/PVR capable of receiving the HD channels to get Front Runner on Freeview.

Joe: If you click on the link to the Largs page, it shows the transmitter location on the map (which you can zoom in and out). If you click the DigitalUK Trade link under your post, it will show you the compass bearing and distance to the transmitter from your postcode.
