mike & D. Askew: This is very likely caused by the high atmospheric pressure affecting various parts of the country, causing lift conditions which allow signals from distant transmitters which cannot normally be received to interfere with the signals from the transmitter you normally use. Do not attempt to retune as this will delete all of your channels which are already correctly tuned. As this is an entirely natural phenomenon, all you can do is wait for the atmospheric conditions to return to normal.

Ashley Fensome : There is currently high atmospheric pressure affecting various parts of the country since last night, causing lift conditions which allow signals from distant transmitters which cannot normally be received to interfere with the signals from the transmitter you normally use. Do not attempt to retune as this will delete all of your channels which are already correctly tuned. As this is an entirely natural phenomenon, all you can do is wait for the atmospheric conditions to return to normal. I would suggest that you also check for loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV if the problem began before yesterday evening.

James Arnott : Almost certainly never. The commercial broadcasters were given the opportunity to broadcasts their channels from more transmitter a few years ago, but weren't interested in doing so as the cost to install and maintain/operate the equipment on each transmitter would not allow sufficient return on investment compared to the number of extra viewers they would be able to reach. If you want more channels look at getting Freesat, which now a days has virtually all the same channels that are available on Freeview (and a good deal more) for a one off cost of a Freesat box and installation of a satellite dish and cabling (you can just reuse the existing dish and cables if your property has previously had Sky).

Nigel Israel: Your channel list is very out of date, as ITV4 +1 has been on channel 59 for some time. Carry out a full scan with the aerial unplugged to clear your channel list, the reconnect it and scan again and you should get all the channels on the correct numbers (make a note of any planned recordings first as they may need to be reprogrammed).

Shiralee Mowbray: True Christmas is only available from 1pm on Freeview because it shares capacity with another channel which broadcasts during the morning. It is available 24 hours a day on satellite.
